SeanzaParticipantHow did you lot get your DJ/Producer/User/Nick names?
A got Prequel from having a weird & scary skill to anticipate events and also because a like the album Tical 0: The Prequel by Method Man.
It would have been DJ Vou as in dejavou (please excuse the spelling lol) but that seemed a bit feminine (dunno why!).
If you wanna know what the afore mentiond events were then don’t hesitate to ask

anisinaParticipantI have 2 names, ones anisina which is what I use here, and the others nagata
The anisina name came from looking at a box with the word Mechanism on the side and I used that for a bit, then changed to sina as a reversal. I then decided to merge the 2, but only use 1 ‘S‘ and it became anisina
The nagata came from the Japanese mountain range called Nigata, but I thought it looked better with 3 a‘s in the name.
I have used numerous names, one of which was EXIT in the mid nineties, and Junk Science in the late nineties.
I was once gonna use a name, in about 2001, as.. The SubT Terrorist but then I wondered what level of interest might occur from certain authorites.
anisina is a female name in Turkey apparantly, and as i’m a bloke, it might attract a few of them to me.

SeanzaParticipantanisina, it was actually your username which inspired me to create this post as av been a bit confused with your genre (male/female not music lol) so that’s ma question answered now

gortesque, a know that kid lol!
melago, that’s a crazy way to get a name, yeah Michael = Mickey, ma younger brother is called Michael & a call him Mickey. Am sure Walt Disnet won’t have a problem with that name lol!

Viktor KParticipantWell my nick on here started as a joke in school where a guy used to whisper Vickylicious in my ear (my nake is Viktor) during math classes. This sounds really gay and the name sounds really gay too but I found it funny so I just stuck with it lol. I have no problems with stuff sounding gay so it’s ok for me 😉
And the producer/DJ name Vcut. Hmm well I tried to think of a name to use while producing and a old teacher im still in contact with suggested Vcut. Since I didn’t come up with something better I just took it. Not much thought behind it really.

DJ LevantParticipantI agree Plattitude, its interesting to read everyones own little story. Great topic Prequel!
Throughout my schooling I used quite a few different names and none really stuck. In my final year of school I became pretty interested in Ancient History particularly the . During my studies I came across the word . The word is of French origin and refers to the countries bordering the East of the Mediterranean Sea – including Lebanon which is my cultural heritage
Levant not only refered to a country that I’m passionate about but sounded unique and when I started using it, it really caught on.

SeanzaParticipantIt’s cool to see the origins of the names coming to the surface.
Thanks, plattitude & Levant, am glad you find it interesting

DJ ValParticipantMy dj name isn’t very interesting. It’s just my real name shortened.
Valda is my birth name. It comes from tha latin word "valorous" which apparently means "marked by or possessing great personal bravery" Sometimes I think it’s true considering the 11 spinal operations I’ve had in the last 10 years and this ol’ bird just keeps going on and on
.
I did at one time toy with the idea Val Da DJ, but it didn’t look right when I put pen to paper. Yeah I know, I’m boring ol’ Val
Pruquel props to you starting this thread, great discussion. Have made it a "Sticky"
Take care
ValAdSense 336x280November 17, 2006 at 8:48 pm #603436
SeanzaParticipantThat’s not actually that boring Val. A didn’t know you’re name was Valda, thought it was Valerie, now that would be slightly more boring (no-offence to anyone with the name Valerie, but Valda is much cooler lol!)
Thanks for making it a sticky!
AdSense 336x280November 17, 2006 at 9:12 pm #603442
BuBaParticipantI dont remeber why particulary i choose BuBa.
I chose this name when i instaled game called Enemy Territory
I guess I stick with it since everybody remebered me there
ha ha ha I was very mean
Before that name I used to use name Gri-zy which in Slovenia means BITE
I know there is a artist called Bubba Sparxxx thats why i didnt wanna use two b in the bubba, so I decided to have two capital B`s in the nick.
Otherwise my name is Zdravko and its realy hard to pronounce.
This is my story
AdSense 336x280November 17, 2006 at 9:24 pm #603445
SeanzaParticipantCool BuBa, yeah that name of yours is a bit of a tongue twister lol!
AdSense 336x280November 17, 2006 at 10:15 pm #603446
ChooParticipantDJ Choo, simply from the "Jimmy Choo" fashion brand. Lol. Creative isn’t it?
Choo
AdSense 336x280November 17, 2006 at 11:15 pm #603452
SeanzaParticipantMan, a was tellin ma girl about your name and said a wonder if he’s related to Jimmy Choo, and if you were a was gonna get a free pair of shoes from you lol!
So are you related?
AdSense 336x280November 18, 2006 at 1:08 am #603459
The CutterParticipantI normally go under the title The Cutter which is pretty apparent I think. I came up with it because I consider myself to be a very proficient audio editor, video as well. But the real inspiration comes from a song called "The Cutter" by Echo and The Bunnymen. I even use a sample from the song of Ian Mcculough singing the phrase "The Cutter" as my producer tag. I lucked out on that one.
Now I like going by Mr. C. inspiration from Happy Days. "Heeeeyyyyy Mr. C."
I some times go by the title Big Electron or The Big Electron or just Tron(great movie btw) which comes from a performance by comedian George Carlin.

anisinaParticipantPrequel wrote:anisina, it was actually your username which inspired me to create this post as av been a bit confused with your genre (male/female not music lol) so that’s ma question answered now
Oh no, you’re getting me all overcome with emotion now.
It’s no surprise that many wonder (i’ve had numerous PM’s with regards female reference) because there are so many that confuse the anisina with anasina, but it is solely an adaptation of anis and sina. I have also been asked, in the past, if it is because of an ex-girlfriend who was called Anna and I simply replied… "**** *** i’m not a fixated control freak and mental abuser like her. And besides, she doesn’t deserve any credit".
So thats that.
PSA. This is a great topic though and I solely agree with Val for making it a Sticky

[/quote:2rnm51sa]Um you wanna atract blokes?!
[/quote:2rnm51sa]Oh, jynxy, I hope you don’t mind me calling you that, you are the love of my life.
I have been noted to go for almost anything that is even almost ‘good looking’, and the amount of times a farmer has had pot shots at my backside with a shotgun, for chasing the livestock around, could be counted on a zero handed person.
Please note, I have never and do not intend to chase livestock, just mrjynx, Prequel, and BuBa.

Are priests now allowed to condone violence?
[/quote:upg0jq4l]Yeah, really. I got ordained on the internet. I’m a Reverend of the Universal Life Church. Anybody can do it and it’s free. I was gonna go to Las Vegas and perform my mates wedding but he didn’t get married over there in the end. It also seems to be a bit of an ice breaker with the ladies when I introduce myself as Reverend Martyn.

Nuclear FlowerParticipantI picked up my name while I was browsing through a High Times magazine. Some dude took a picture of his product and labeled it "The Nuclear Flower"…I was like, "Whoa. Cool name." So I took it. And the rest is history.

JuggernautParticipantgot 3:
Juggernaut….i can’t actually remember how/when/why but loads of people called me it as they couldn’t remember my actual name. It’s very blokey (for a lady like myself) but it’s aggressive enough (i find) for playing out drum n bass. I don’t get looked down at. more, i get people looking at me suprised. "YOUR Juggernaut? but i thought you were a bloke" etc.Shigsta….play on my actual name. cheesy as you like (i find) but oh well
Defunkto…quite drunk, listening to an album by Defunkt and was reading something about Defacto standards in ICT (a-levels, boring). long story short, microphone plus me equals 5 minutes of me giggling going through all sorts of defactofunktofuckto type sounds. I use this one mainly for house/trance stuff

dj.ScrewheadParticipantSome time back in 2002 a lot of times when I’d work on tracks, I would do it after watching a horror movie (or even a few times, while I was watching it. Dual monitor setup is t3h pwn)
So I was fucking around with Acid, and was doing a breaks remix of my favorite hard acid tune, Brain #31-Tinnitus, while watching Army of Darkness, just as more of a background thing so that I can keep getting distracted and never tire of focusing too much on what I’m doing.
In the middle of working on it, I loaded up a new drum loop, right as Ash says "Now listen up, you primitive screwheads. See this? This… is my boomstick! ", and my CPU froze up for a second (I had a P3/550 with 128 megs ram) and my media player stuttered on the workd Screwhead, but what I was playing in acid was still going and it ended up beatmatched so that Screwhead was skipping on beat and Boomstick hit right when the track dropped.
I went and googled it and found no other Dj or producer by the name of Screwhead (Spooky, The Spookshow and Nothing were already used by people)
