DJmomentum09ParticipantI have to say guys…
Take few seconds of your time and make a quick comment about the track that your viewing. People spend time on their mixes and sets for you to enjoy in hopes that they will give some kind of a comment or criticism. Instead there are tons of tracks on this forum with 100’s of views and 0 comments.

DJ Bobby VParticipantI agree with DJ Momentum…c’mon everyone let’s try and give a little more feedback..this site is more than just a database.

elmatticParticipantI have to agree that over the past year-and-change I’ve been coming here the number of comments is dropping big time.
Not saying for my own shit, I’m grateful for what I get, but in general–good tracks that woulda gotten 10, 12 comments are only getting 1 or 2.
This is important not for people’s egos but a lot of times feedback is specific and constructive (off beat, drums too loud, etc.).
On the other hand the number of members keeps increasing (good) = more posts (good) = too much stuff for people to look at…
Bring back A4U Recommends or something user driven like it? Vote for track of the month within each genre? Just sayin.

BuBaParticipantThe funny thing is that this site has 8420862 users and in Test pressings there are like 10 songs that has comments. Ive been here 4 years almost and I have seen growth of this site and I have warned that this will happen but no one listened lol
I remember when I have started Acapellas4U mixtape whole forum joined so the tape would be finished. So I have to agree with Elmatic on this to give community more to get involve with.

AdSense 336x280January 20, 2009 at 10:58 pm #662891
CasqueParticipantI agree that comments have declined quite a bit. it has always been a long standing tradition to be selfish in the music industry. few artists could care less about helping other artists out unless there is something in it for them. the best thing to do in situations dealing with other people is to show them a better way through your own actions. if people on A4U don’t start commenting more i believe we could end up seeing a dramatic drop in song submitters…
AdSense 336x280January 21, 2009 at 12:08 am #662895
DJmomentum09Participanti agree with you casque
Me personally i dont want to waste time posting and uploading music for others to enjoy just for fun. I mean you are welcome to listen to it and all but common its not like im asking much here. Listen Enjoy Comment. At least when you post stuff on youtube people comment and rate your songs and i would think that a site that is made for music producers and dj would have more ratings. People are lazy and they will only help you out if there is something in for them. I bet if you made that you get one extra download for each comment you make on a song I WILL BET that within first hour or posting any song there will be tons of reviews and comments.AdSense 336x280January 21, 2009 at 12:51 am #662897
Th!nkParticipanthey…its all good, ya’l arent the only ones
the problem is, is that its producers rating producers instead of the Audio emcee’s rating producers, and Vise Versa
i think there needs to be a gap bridged between the audio and production side of this forum to get things "moving" for everyone.
because not only do we want rates, we want to network and do some business here and there too….and i know all you can feel me on that one
1!

RAZARLIONZParticipantYep, the obvious decline in activity in this board has been mentioned, even by some with a low ‘post_count’ to ‘join_time’ ratio themselves

Remember that visitor counts are added aswell, and by looking at the bot text they use here
[code:29lndyks]User-agent: ia_archiver
Disallow: /
User-Agent: *
Allow: /[/code:29lndyks]
it shows that they(bots) may be added to the overall thread count aswell, but a staff member would probably know better, as we cannot see the forum settings… usually.
That being said, a thread may count 100 views, and only have had 5 members actually log in and look (just an example), so the count may not be an accurate recognition of activity.I agree with the above statements that another approach may need to be taken, and if it were my site, I’d tweak this software so a new user must make a certain amount of posts to be able to post a link to their track, or attach a file. That may stop the hit n ‘runners’, and should get people used to being vocally active.
Sometimes those that will really use the feedback, are lost amongst the chaos.
Many things can be mentioned to ‘maybe’ increase activity, but I personally believe that the ole heads need to embrace the new to make em feel like a part of the family. It was this action from the likes of seanza, BuBa, juriak and many others that made me log in whenever I had the chance. The fact that people with such knowledge in this industry took the time to help me grow, made me want to be an active part of this community, and not just a tourist(visitor).
Cheers for that ma brothers!
How many people ask for feed back, and ‘hardly’ walk that path themselves?
I see it alot, and refrain from replying as I get loose with words sometimes lol I’ve had the ban stick waved at me also because I speak my mind.. but thats another matter.
[ [color color=red:29lndyks]insert finger pointing smiley here[/color:29lndyks] ]With all that Ive stated, as of late I haven’t been active here also due to my new born son, my duties as staff on various sites, AND my diploma Im desperately scratching to complete lol so I will no longer preach what I cannot follow at this time.

If you’d like more replies, then lead by example.
Make new friends in this community.
Absorb all knowledge, as it is ultimately self knowledge!
Give the respect you’d like to receive, and it will always be returned 10 fold.
Of course 2 producers/users may clash, but the other thousand will be helping each other grow.
Didnt I just say I wasnt gonna preach? lolGood luck my friends, I will drop by when I can and add my worthless few words to the post count

**PEACE**
[/end useless post]

GMoneyParticipantEvery forum is the same. View count through the roof, very little commenting.
Just a fact of life. Accept it, move on. There is really nothing you can do about it.
Also, I personally know a few people who really can’t understand how to use forums. They download the occassional track, but don’t have a clue as to how to reply. Really. Forums are great for us new generation folks but some of the older crowd, and even some of the technically challenged younger crowd just can’t be bothered.
I quite often refrain from commenting because some of the stuff I hear is just horrible. When I do comment on the bad tracks, I end up exploding. Like this:
http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk/topic52840.html
Wasn’t nice of me, and I don’t think anyone would appreciate it if I commented on most tracks I listen to in that manner. I definitely comment where credit is due.

JuggernautParticipantI’ll admit i’m a bit of a snob when it comes to listening to people’s work. If they haven’t got it to stream off a decent enough place (or download/stream via my QT plug-in)….so if it’s in the region of megaupload/rapidshare/etc (altho zshare is cool coz i can stream without having to d/l) then it automatically won’t be touched by me.
The only exception of the rule is if there’s something out there that really does get my attention…usually of the DnB persuasion.
the only time i’ll actually dish out some constructive criticism is when i actually want it to be usable in my DJing sets, and not sound sh*t on a decent 20k sound system.
Also like GMoney kinda touched on. I rarely say i actually 100% like something. i will criticise everything because i want it to sound better. unless it’s 100% in which case, i’ll probably IM the person personally (only happened once, but still needed a tweak).

Post your tunes and mash ups on various forums maybe that might help if no-one is commenting here.

DJmomentum09ParticipantYou know I think i know why people dont comment much on this site. I just caught my self doing the same thing today lol.
Title interested me… I clicked to view it… Saw that in order to listen to it you have to download the song and exited. Honestly guys I think that if you want people to listen to your tracks and comment. Please post then on the music hosting website and copy the link of your song. Its easy and makes everything whole lot better. I personally use YouTube and Esnips. Both great sites to host your music and share with others. Good LuckAdSense 336x280 -
