DJ ValParticipantWhen I’m feeling low
, I find talking to somebody helps. Since I’m at home alone, I thought I’d talk to you guys, if that’s ok with you.
I am sitting at my pooter, it’s 6.30am and I can’t believe that it’s still pitch balck outside. Not even 2 weeks ago the sun would’ve been shining already. Damn I’m not looking forward to this winter. Apparently this year is going to be quite a horrid one, they say it’s due. I’ve only experienced 4 winters in the UK and each year I seem to dread it even more than the previous. Those long dark, wet days are really nothing to look forward to are they? Sometimes I wonder if I’m suffering from S.A.D, born and bred in the African sun spemt **yrs there now get thrown into winters. 41/2 years ago I could ask myself, “what’s winter” most of our winters where like the UKs summers.
Anyone else feel the same about winter? Thanks for listening. LatersTake care

DJ ValParticipantCheers Eggsnjuice. Maybe I just have to grow to love the winter. I’m finding it difficult to accept the fact that you don’t have bright sunny days all the year round here. I’m sure my clock will soon kick in, just finding it strange why it’s taking me so long to adjust. Mind you I’ve been told the South West isn’t as bad as some parts during winter. I think it’s the continued wetness of winter that gets to me moreso than the cold and dark. Never mind, I’ll soon snap out of it.
Take care

that_guy_donnyParticipantHey Val, you should check out south-eastern Australia for a while. Summer is hot and Winter is icy, but you can still get four seasons in one day… sunny while raining one instant, then perfectly clear with ice cold wind the next moment… hehe. I’ve lived here my whole life, and you never quite get entirely used to it…
We’re just crawling out of a long cold winter here at the moment, so the days are finally getting longer and the nites are slightly warmer!

junoParticipantI was born in the summer – I’m a Gemini.
I like the changes from the extremes – fall & spring. Right now its not too hot & or too cold and hasnt rained in 3 weeks. Its wierd tho I think my personality changes a little bit when it starts to get cold. I have ALOT of memories & feelings (mostly from High School & the years since) from the fall that start to sneak into my mind when the weather changes – its almost like the fall ups my anxiety a little. I dont go through any drastic change but i think its kinda in the same way how full moons supposedly make ppl act different. Does that make sense?AdSense 336x280September 25, 2005 at 6:38 pm #578976
acheadKeymastersure..it makes sense..it’s s.a.d. (seasonal affected disorder)and most people, allthough not drasticly effected by it, have it. my mother is bothered by the shorter daylight hours more than most people i know. but it does bug me too. i’m just looking forward to going to work in the dark, getting out of work with about an hour of daylight left, so i can come home and shovel snow way past dark…lmao….. gotta love wisconsin

MelParticipantVal, what’s up. I’m a little late too. But hope this one helps.
Two things: Winter is when you can style the most, in terms of fashion. It’s too damn hot for that in the summer. But in the winter, you can pimp the leather jackets / coats, scarfs, top hats with the feather, and shades. Very nice time of year to show your more GQ, ladie’s man side.
Two: I’ve always looked at it like this: Winter is my heavy-creative period. Since its LITERALLY nothing else to do, just stay at work, y’know…producing, mixing, or whatever you do. Get deep in it…put the cocoa on, and throw yourself in it. All the while, be planning how you want to do it up in the summer…how you want to come on the scene, what you want the people to hear–whatever. When summer finally comes, you’ll have new “heat” for it. Brand new material, a more vivid creative streak, and you’ll feel pretty damn good while you take that vacation for 1, 2, 3 or more weeks.
Peace

DJ ValParticipantCheers guys. Thanks for replying and cheering me up. I think I will throw myself into my music this winter. I’ve not worked on anything for 3 moths now. Been spending all my spare time outdoors and of course here. I’m sure I’ll snap out of this low mood I’m in, I’m a survivor I always bounce back. Thanks again.
Take care

The CutterParticipantVal,
I am the same way about summer. I am fortunate to live in Florida cuz or winters are very mild. We only get a few really cold days a year. The thing I hate about the change in season is the change in time. Not only do the daylight hours get shorter but we have daylight savings time. In the fall we will loose another hour of daylight. For me this sucks because mostly everything I do for fun revolves around the sun. When I get off of work I either go surfing(if there are waves), wakeboarding or kayaking. When the seasons and time change it is dark by the time I get home from work. So I can feel your pain.

MelParticipantYeah, that’s the spirit, Val. And remember, get your GQ swagger on this winter.
