Mellow MadnessParticipantu dont have the serial #?
it should be on the back of the original case …
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 6:25 pm #576818
DJ_BradyParticipantWhen I reinstalled it, it never asked for the key to continue installation.
As far as an ACTIVATION code goes, I think this is completely different Im not sure, I´ll try putting the code in though.. one sec..
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 7:03 pm #576819
DJ_BradyParticipantDoesnt work now everytime at the welcome screen it asks wheter or not I want to activate now what happens when 7 days is up?
Do you think I´ll find a solution in the next 7 days!
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 7:13 pm #576820
playmakerParticipantIf you are using a bought copy of Win XP this wouldnt be a problem. Contact microsoft and provide them with your details you find in the box,and/or the oem details that was included with your pc. If you live in spain head to [url:izx32pp3]http://www.microsoft.com/spain/[/url:izx32pp3] and find the phonenumber.
Usually you get 30 days to do the activation.

Mellow MadnessParticipantis ur copy bootlegged?
or legit?
thats the QUESTION.
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 7:35 pm #576823
playmakerParticipantMellow Madness, that’s a quite unnecessary question, and we don’t tolerate any discussions about pirated sofware; that’s one of our simple rules.
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 8:09 pm #576826
DJ_BradyParticipantI have a bought copy that was installed on a laptop with disk.
My home pc however has it installed but the dumbass that set the comp up at our home never gave us a copy of the Windows XP disc which I think is wrong?
If you´ve had it installed surely he must give you the disc too… anyway when I got the virus I installed Windows on my home computer with the original disc that says for Siemens computers only although this comp isnt.. anyway its not the case Ive payed for Windows I must check my laptop and see how I activated it on there cause this came up on that too

Mellow MadnessParticipantplaymaker wrote:Mellow Madness, that’s a quite unnecessary question, and we don’t tolerate any discussions about pirated sofware; that’s one of our simple rules.what r u talking about?
i’m asking if his copy is legit or bootlegged… its not like i was gonna give him a serial number.. WOW.
AdSense 336x280August 14, 2005 at 9:06 pm #576835
playmakerParticipantMellow mellow, no need to get all winded up here right he he he he,
It’s quite simple, if it’s a legal copy – then no worries, if it’s a “bootleg”, then we don’t want to have that kind of discussion here;
that’s why the “that’s a quite unnecessary question”
WOW

Mellow MadnessParticipantoook….
now back to dj brady..
get ur serial# off ur pc.. which will be on the side of the box.. call up microsoft support.. they will ask for ur serial# so they can track the xp serial # .. then they will give it to u.. they well ask if ur second computer is for “inhouse” use only.. since ur not suppose to use duplicate copies of xp on computers.. then u should be set.

DJ_BradyParticipantI DONT BELIEVE THIS.. I re-installed Windows.. first thing I did was get my audio drivers and internet connection installed, then I download MSN Messenger and Firefox Web Browser.. I had to restart before the Firefox download finished.. that was ok.
When I started up I got the same old GAY error message, and then the 60 second countdown.. it was that bloody sasser worm again.
Ive used the sasser worm removal tool hundreds of times but it still says its not present on the computer!!
I have been told by a friend the three tools I need to be unstoppable are : ZoneAlarm, Ad-Aware and AVG Anti-Virus what do you guys use?
AdSense 336x280August 15, 2005 at 11:34 am #576859
playmakerParticipantWhen the 60 seconds countdown starts, you should write “shutdown -a” (without the “) in the start> run..
Then make sure you are not connected to the internet, pull out the network cord.
Run the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool that you can find .
Also run the updated antivirus sofware you have. It should be OK.Hope this can help you out!
AdSense 336x280August 15, 2005 at 12:56 pm #576860
DJ_BradyParticipantI ran that scan and its says none of the 30+ possible worms are infected..
What now? I cannot open Firefox.. Its installed properly.. just wont open
AdSense 336x280August 15, 2005 at 7:52 pm #576874
Mellow MadnessParticipantu can always open a new partition.. rather then reformat..
AdSense 336x280September 5, 2005 at 10:54 pm #577925
DJ_BradyParticipantThis is a pain! 9 days left.. this´ll be the third time in less than a month even, it speeding by the timer, and I tried changing my comp date.. I´ll ave to re-install everything again.. Is there a way that.. after the 30 days when at start-up it asks for the code.. and I cant give it.. if I can restart the comp with the XP disk in.. and re-install it on a new drive? Would my files I got now be accesible? Ive tried something like this running to XP Home Editions on one comp, (theres a big drive)..
That would by me time and help me from re-installing all drivers…
One more thing!
How can I install Win 98 with my 98 disk, my computer hasn´t got a floppy drive!
And apparently Win 98 cd dont boot!
So what can I do to have 98 set up?
Id rather 98 less probs.. any help please!?AdSense 336x280September 5, 2005 at 11:08 pm #577926
junoParticipantdidnt read the all the replies (i wouldnt be too helpful b/c i’ve only had to install windows a couple of times w/ no trouble)
for the virus issue – if you want good protection for free try Microsofts AntiSpyware program – its still beta but i swear i havent had to run Spybot, Ad-Aware, or any of those type of programs since i loaded it onto my PC – its been as clean as a f*ckin whistle! works just as good as Norton

AdSense 336x280September 5, 2005 at 11:13 pm #577927
DJ_BradyParticipantThanks juno my anti-virus probs r gone now

I got ZoneAlarm Pro, AVG and Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor.. Norton too.. had no probs so far.. although windows security alerts says no anti-virus software is installed.. its cool though no problems.. Im thinking of trying to get a copy of XP.. but Microsoft can go to hell if they think Im paying for it!
Dont mean to start another kind of discussion… but you get me.. I´ll see how it goes thanks.AdSense 336x280September 6, 2005 at 7:24 pm #578004
DJ_BradyParticipantI installed my XP bought copy on this pc.. it was orignally on my laptop computer.. which I think is why Windows recognises this so asks for activation.. cant remember how I activated it on laptop I think just the normal way..
If I copy my BOUGHT disc and installed it with that do you think id be asked for activation?
It might think its a different cd and not realise.. anyone know?AdSense 336x280September 6, 2005 at 7:54 pm #578006
DJ_BradyParticipantWhat did he do? And he had 3 warnings + im only asking a question

acapella wrote:…use Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta…w0rd – This is by far the best program I’ve found for this sorta stuff. Formely GIANT AntiSpyware, this program will keep your computer free of crap – you’ve got my word on that…
Also, with SP2 comes offers for free Anti-Virus software through the Security Center control panel. I would follow those links and use Computer Associates EZ-Armor Lite – it works wonders and is relatively compact and out of the way. It doesn’t bog-down your system like Norton or AVG has for me in the past. As far as a firewall goes, it’s all hype. You really don’t need a firewall in most situations, unless you’re directly connected to your DSL/Cable modem from your computer running PPPoE. Through any linksys(if you changed the PW) or other router/wireless box, you have little chance of someone finding your machine from the net. Firewall software like McAfee and Norton Internet Securities are FUCKING EVIL and should be avoided at all costs… Did I mention SP2 on XP has a built-in firewall that works pretty damn well? Anyways…enjoy!
