DJ_BradyParticipantWhy is it that not many bands such as Coldplay, U2, Greenday, Linkin Park.. or any bands at all for that matter release acapellas? It seems only pop artists like Gwen Stefani, Britney and rap artists Eminem, 50 Cent, hip hop like Usher, Kanye and stuff.. they release acapellas with their single releases.. but bands don´t.. is there a reason?

The CutterParticipantThe reason is most likely because it is not in their culture musically speaking. It is not what they are used too. Rock over the years has been about writing and performing. Where those who create hip hop, rap and beats etc are used to this form of creativity by means of recreation for the most part( not always). Reusing is in their culture and giving/using acapellas are a part of that culture musically speaking.
As far as rock muscians( speaking in a general context) they have the availability to create acapellas if they wanted to. Most albums are produced in some kind of studio environment not in a live forum(i.e concert).
Generally when recording you set up and mic everything. Then you start to record. With exception of the drums and maybe the bass everything else is recorded as a scratch track(speaking in general terms). Once the drums are solid the other instruments are overdubbed( scratch tracks are re-recorded) Once that is done the vocals are re-recorded. So in a perfect world each individual drum, instrument and vocal are recorded on individual tracks.
So there is the means of creating acapellas if they wanted to. For those who know this already sorry for the long explanation but this was meant for those such as HOOD and DJ BRADY who may not know.
Hope this explains it a little if not I’m just talking gibbirish.

DJ_BradyParticipantThanks.. I was maybe thinking that.. they did use acapellas.. just didnt release them? Because you do see on tv/read in books or just hear that they are in an audio booth recording vocals.. but I guess you know more than me thanks for the info!

Morbid MatronParticipantI guess that (only a guess), but, i think that it may be ’cause POP and Hip-Hop artists are the most remixed artists all the time.
Another fact is the one HooD and thecutter expressed. They record with live instruments so, their vocal track should have at least one instrument.

LupinParticipantHip-Hop it’s just different from all other style of music, it’s street music it’s ghetto music, so basicaly what they must do it’s to find the cheapest way to produce their music, i think it’s all start there, plus it’s cool to have acapellas, they let us remix them, on our beats.
