why did you choose your producer dj name?

Hi Styles, We had a similar thread a while back which I was able to dig up. Was such an interesting topic we made it a sticky.

Now i could use the sticky but i saw this thread first so im gonna stick ee with this one (excuse the pun )

I started off freestyeling with a producer/slash dj i met at the format gig and he said i should get a name, we both agreed on abili-t, i thought that was pretty butters everytime i fucked up my frees so i thought i better get another name,

i kept going with abili-t while trying to think of a dope name that i felt represented me.

in the end i thought "what the fuck" i dont need to impress with my name and so i started calling myself what the fuck,

as time progressed i started getting involved in the local scene hitting open mics and going to partys with emcees and cyphering, all the lads i was partying with decided that i should be called eddie oh, eddie being my first name and o being the initial of my last, this names stuck whenever i go out thats what people know me as, if i grab the mic i run with that even though i dont like it

but…. i started out making whack beats and things started getting serious, ive put a bit of money and a lot of effort into the production side of things so i ressurected what the fuck, changed the c to an n to make it more pc friendly and there you have it ala what the funk on the boards a.k.a eddieoh on the mic

beatfreak was a name given to me by a good friend back before I started DJing an was just a hardcore dancer an b-boy….I can freak any beat… my original DJ name was xtortion but I got tired of explaining or trying to explain that name without discussing the criminal activity that it resulted from so I brought back the old b-boy name

mine came from being into surf/sk8boarding always chasing the buzz,not getting wasted as one might think!

Alot of people call me DJ Doc, Doc being my nickname, but to be honest I don’t really like Djs with "DJ" added infront of there name! lol
So I prefer just Doc DJ wise.

Production wise (and i’ve not done very many tracks yet!) I go under the guise Tobacco Slammers.

I came up with that one day I was drunk! Simply because I smoke and drink.

I’ve been known to be called Bryan from time to time also…

I’ve chosen mine as CDY. Meant to be pronounced as seedy.

Got it from a friends number plate.

DnB dj name: Juggernaut (was a name i used on a forum and when i met with people they called me juggernaut as my real name’s a bit of a bastard to remember sometimes, so it just stuck)

House DJ Name: Defunkto (LONG ass story but i’ll leave it at having to redo my 2 month a-level ICT coursework in 7 days)

Like Tobacco_slammers, i don’t use DJ in my name….anywhere, ever.

Years ago i used to be called DJ Misty but that nickname fafed away when i joined the army. The lads nicknamed me Con due to my second name then it evolved into BigCon.

I then added my last 4 from my army number 6409

I have recently left the army, i served with the Royal Engineers (RE)

so now the name is BigCon-XRE or just XRE not quite sure which one yet

im sure it will change soon…. again

but if Fatboy Slim can do it then so can we…..
