mike001ParticipantWhere do you put your Acapella Remixes for other people to hear.
Looked on myspace for setting meself up as a Band but they have a policy of removing you if the songs contain illegal material or dont belong to you i.e someones vocals that you havent got permission to use.
I dont intend to try & make any money from these "illegal remixes" but would be interested if anyone liked them, as it may get work for me.
Any advice would be helpful.

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantDont forget to post them here 1st!

Re the myspace thing, there are 1000’s of profiles which are breaking the rules.
Its highly unlikely you will have any problems.
Worst case scenario is you will be asked to remove them. And if you look at
the rules, it actually states;
REPEATEDLY posting material for which you do not own the copyright will lead to
a ban.
(So you could probably get away with being caught twice)
If label representative catches you, you may be asked to remove it.
But their only real concern is the money aspect, so unless your selling it they are
not gonna be in too much of a rush to busy their lawyers.Ive had no problems here; http://www.myspace.com/imspecialme
It been up for about 2 years and did actually get a DJ gig from it once.AdSense 336x280April 1, 2008 at 12:08 pm #646911
JuggernautParticipantI personally avoid people’s stuff on myspace like the bloody plague because pages take ages to load and have all sorts of irrelevant crap i’m not really interested.
Best idea is probably to set up a blog and use a service like divshare or something. Not blowing my own trumpet but something like , granted not all singing or dancing. but it’s simple and to the point (and free)
Dunno if that helps at all.

jonp7Participantyeah iv wondered about this too, but it seems ok to post on sites?
I did burn a vew copies of remixes and get them played out in clubs on holiday – like the other guy says – as long as you’re not making money from it its unlikely to be a problem.

LUMParticipantive just started using ableton… today! but im planning on making a myspace i think as an add on to my existing one, just remixes though. i dunno what your beef is, i listen to so much music on it!

meldevonneParticipantwhy not sell your remixes…the music majors are a holes trying to exploit artist like they always have…you cant get in touch with them if you have something good…they dont respond when you send them something…so your great remix sits on the shelf and your stuff is better than the original…sell it! sell it!
The industry is dead anyway

elmatticParticipantI thought someone mentioned muxtape.com on here already, but now I don’t see it. It’s a kind of cool little site.
You can run a podcast like I do on podbean.com or another service (free if you don’t want a lot of space).
Also there’s this Dutch cat who runs a mixtape site who would host you–thenewworck.blogspot.com.
There’s also last.fm and soundclick, looperman…lots of places to seed your shit.
Although everyone just ends up using myspace.

cosmicjiveParticipantmyspace wont mess with you for putting remixes on there, so many artists do that, including myself. I can assure you of this.

acheadKeymasterI tried Myspace once to put my own music on, but what annoyed me was having to drill down the bitrate… I had a 9 minute trance song that I edited down to 5 minutes, and even then I had to bring down the rating. I would prefer to just make a blog that uses Mediafire or something like that to host the files.
