The CutterParticipantI was just wondering if anyone saw the show and what you thought? I think it is about time that Hip Hop/Rap has started their own hall of fame. I thought overall it was a pretty cool show.
My favorite part was when Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five performed. I also liked the Biggie tribute but thought that the only one who did any justice to his song was Ludacris. Little Cease and Kanye did not pull it off in my opinion.

junoParticipanti saw a few parts of it. they’ll probably have it on rerun for a couple of weeks anyway.
the Big Daddy Kane tribute was pretty tight – Black Thought tore it up!no tribute to Pac tho – am i right? didnt see the whole show but it seemed like they concentrated on a few areas & left alot of others out – maybe not intentionally but it seemed biased. like they’re trying to ignore the fact that alot of Hip Hop has to do with guns/sex/violence.

Yeah I’m pretty sure there will be a tribute to 2 Pac next year. This is only the 2nd year they have done this and I beleive they are trying to induct those who were the first to really get the whole genra started. I don’t think the guns/sex/violence thing is a factor. Hell for his day ICE-T was well versed in the world of guns/sex/violence. Have you ever seen any of his videos? It’s nothing but thugs with guns and hot bitches.

MelParticipantAs much as I love Pac (one of my favorite rappers), I’m kind of glad they didn’t salute him this year. Bigging up 2PAC has become commercial, if you ask me. It’s like its some kind of marketing scheme to get attention or sales.
The honors could have actually done without a Biggie Tribute, too. I would have enjoyed it better if they had took it completely back to the foundation. Enjoyed Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane, and Furious Five tributes. Would have liked to seen tributes to cats like the Juice Crew, De La Soul, and definitely Kool Keith and the UltraMagnetic MCs.
then again, maybe they weren’t “big” enough
