anisinaParticipant[color color=red:1yps5cst]dj bassy, i’ve edited your subject title to try and get you a better response.[/color:1yps5cst]
I don’t know about Ableton, but I know the V-Station has some very good sounds, and is capable of being manipulated, through automation, to very good effect. I would suggest messing with the filters etc.. if you get to know how to automate them in Ableton.

junoParticipantYeah that is a little vague
Install the VSTi version of V-Station on your computer and save the plugin into your usual VST directory. Live automatically scans your preferred VST directory each time the program is opened. You can set the VST directory or Re-Scan under Options, Preferences, On the Plug-In Tab. To use it load it from the Plugin menu onto a MIDI channel & highlight the record button for that channel – then you control it.
Now what kind of sounds do you want to create?
V-Station is meant to be like any other standard synth – not specializing in one area but covering almost everything. I could get more specific if you described the sound you’re going for. But its good to know what all the abbreviations on the knobs stand for & how they effect the sound. Experimentation is really the only good way to learn how to program a synth.

playmakerParticipantanisina, I suggest you have a talk with the boss and set-up a "PATCH Arena" on the forum where people can share their home-made presets. I had this discussion before I left the Moderating here, but it never happened.
By having that people can help out by doing presets , for example that Wah bass (for V-station in this example, although it was more a question about how do produce in LiVE) that’s been so much talked about recently here

could you follow the 1st part of my response? after you’ve installed V-Stat, open live, you will see an audio & midi channel by default. on the left, the 3rd circle down under File & Tap is your Plugin Device Browser. Find where you installed V-Station – then double click it & it should load into the session view. You’ll see it load it on a channel – now next to the highlighted button for the channel, the solo button & all of that – you’ll see a button with a round black dot – clik it & it will highlight red. You control V-Station now on your computer keyboard & any installed controllers hooked up to your system. To record what you’re playing, click the master record button on the upper toolbar & click play. That should put you in business my friend

dj bassyParticipantthanx alot dude
i think my problem is with midi.
can you maybe enlighten me on midi cos im not too sure what its about.
do i need to create a midi track or summit :SAdSense 336x280March 23, 2006 at 6:19 pm #587168
junoParticipantno problem – midi stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Its basically a signal that transfers musical info from a controller like a keyboard into an audio application like Live 5. Add a MIDI channel/track by going to insert>insert MIDI track. You must load your VSTi(Virtual Studio Technology Instrument) into a MIDI track & highlight the record button for that channel – hit the master record & play button (like a tape recorder) when you want to record into the project. you are basically recording in a signal that controls your instrument as the live set plays – the signal can control other things but thats a little more complicated. once you’ve recorded something you can make changes or fit the notes to time. i think by default the middle & upper rows of your typing keyboard will control MIDI.
If you’re still having trouble learning how to use certain parts of Live dont be shy of the tutorials – they walk you through with very easy to understand directions & dont take up much of your time at all. I think there is one focusing on using MIDI in Live. They are in your Ableton program files.

Cheers.
