DJSH4KESParticipantOk, so I have been looking into this for quite a while now. I would really like to be able to transform an acapella and make it sound like Britney Spears, Lil Wayne or T Pain. I would love it if there was a program that just did it, just like that! but there isn’t. I have found GSnap and Antares AutoTune. They require a VST Host and they are just plugins. I have Sony Acid and I am totally confused as to what I need or need to do in order to be able to make it work…..Ok So I Have the VST Host and I’ve got GSnap running. Now what? How do you import an audio file into it so that you can record it and save it?
A guy on Youtube has done a mashup of Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love and Janet Jackson’s Rock With U. He used the effect on Leona’s voice and I think it sounds really good. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wqdaEczm_4k
I would love to know more about this, also if anyone knows an easier way or has any tips or advice. I might even try singing myself to see what it comes out like after the effect. I’m sure that other people have made threads about this and are interested in it. But it’s all very confusing! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

DJ Bobby VParticipantI think T-Pain just uses a really good vocoder.

factory presetsParticipantThe sound on the youtube clip is Antares Autotune being seriously abused. Not sure how its done exactly, coz I don’t have that toy. I think they pitch shift the vocal by several semitones to get the artifacts.
Cher had a hit about 10 years ago with that effect on it and for a while there, everybody was using it to death.

mattmonty6384Participantthats right, you need anteres auto tune, and to achieve the t-pain sound you need to turn the retune speed up to 0, set the scale to major and maybe bypass a couple of notes, try b, e and a.
Give it a shot and let me know if its what your looking for.

asheyknucklesParticipantT-Pain uses the Autotune plugin on Protools.

Reggie_p75ParticipantU can download a demo of Autotune 5 n use it for a short while….
I used it for a few days and rammed 50-60 acapellas thru it b4 it expired..
Mmmmm.. that sweet roboty sound that EVERYONE is using to death!!!
In the 90’s it was Talkbox’s n Vocoders now it’s Autotune!!!

acheadKeymasterIf its used badly, can ruins anything!

KemoSwabyParticipantI use Logic…. I think you can do something similar with the Pitch correction plugin on the pella track… as was mentioned set the response time to 0 (fast) and eliminate a few notes to get the sound you want.

gcone81ParticipantIt’s too bad, not many people give Cher and her producers the credit she deserves for first making this effect.

russellParticipantIve ad this vst for ages and neva really understood what it was for, ya know what my next pella’s going too be sounding like.

mike001ParticipantThere is now a cheaper Auto tune FX available which does the effect. See this months Computer music.

aaronv2ParticipantHAH! its funny when i researched the autotune plugin the "T-Pain Effect" was probably getting more results than the actual technique of auto tuning. so if you hit up T pain effect on google u get sooo much gold

DjGcFresh410Participantt-pain is half machine…
AdSense 336x280August 10, 2010 at 5:28 pm #681726
mike001ParticipantTry this it works quite well as long as you use midi on it instead of the notes down the side.
Play the vocals.
Great fun.
