davefjParticipantThe Cure – Love Cats (Dave Remix’s DnB Re-Rub)
One of my first steps into remixing music in a Drum ‘n’ Bass fashion.
If you get the chance to give this bouncy little number a listen I would be most appreciative and feedback will be welcomed as I’m new to doing DnB remixes.
Hope you like the track.

davefjParticipantThank you for the feedback.
I’m aware that the intro is lengthy but I aimed it to be a track you mix in rather then drop from the top.I’ve had a good response whenever I’ve played it out so that’s a good start

pocket bangerParticipantglad to see someone’s doing things with the cure. Seems they haven’t been really hammered by remixers yet. I always thought their stuff had lots of interesting sounds and vocals. keep it up!

WarlordParticipantVery nice! Got no problems with the length of the intro either, you’ve always gotta make long intros for this stuff so ppl can mix it in. Also builds up the climax better.
Sounds really well mixed and definitely isn’t boring. The bass is awesome, and the whole mix fits in really well with the vocals.
Good job man.

davefjParticipantCheers fella.
The big problem I have found with this track is Sub bass.
A problem I hear you cry?
Well I dropped it at Cardiff Students Union a few weeks a go, at a reasonable volume, no red lining, but when the bass kicked in the compressors didn’t like it and dropped the whole thing by 20db to protect the system/avoid over loud noise etc.I’ve re worked it a couple of times and removed some of the low end but I think there is a harmonic in there that is kicking out a louder signal then it should

Anyway, since doing this track I have reworked/remixed Panic At The Disco "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" as well as Underworld "Born Slippy" into DnB tracks.
Both of these tunes, and more, can be heard at: http://www.myspace.com/daveremix
Have a listen and let me know any feedback.
Cheers for listening and I hope you all like my stuff.

Nuclear FlowerParticipantDave,
Not too shabby my friend. The Cure is a clever choice for a dnb remix. I am a long intro dude myself, so no bother. A little heavy on the cymbals for my taste though. They sounded good in the beginning, but I would tend to be more reserved throughout a dnb track, using them only for occassional accents. but this was cool. production sounds good. keep it up……NF
AdSense 336x280December 12, 2006 at 2:23 pm #605759
davefjParticipantCheers NF.
I’ve been listening/DJing DnB for a good many years but only just got into making the stuff.
My main complaint with some DnB is that it is a bit dull at times (please note that I’m in no way trying to say my shit is better then anyones) so I used the cymbals and percussion to make it a big different.
Also I come from a alt/rock background so cymbals are used quite a lot.I’ve still got to sort the bass issue out with this track but I’ve done a few other tracks now so I’m warming to this whole DnB production thing.
Cheers for the feedback

MissblyssParticipantI like what you did with the Vocal. It need’s more Wobble or Tech. HARDER FASTER!!!!

davefjParticipantCheers for the feeback.
I don’t think I’m gonna do anything to the track now as I spent long enough on it and I’m happy there it is at the moment. For something a little harder have a listen to the track Crazy Mad that I did in one of the other threads
