LexusParticipantTwista was involved in a hit and run car accident early Saturday morning (Jan 7). The Chi-Town rapper’s Dodge Charger was struck by another vehicle, which took off from the scene of the accident. “He is at home with his private doctor under observation,” Twista’s manager Rawle Stewart said. Twista’s latest album ‘The Day After’ was recently certified gold, and the rapper celebrated by releasing $50k from the ceilings of a concert venue on New Years Eve.

Meanwhile, DMX has been released from New York’s Rikers Island jail early for good behaviour. The rapper served one month of his 70-day sentence for parole violation. “He got some time off, two-thirds, for good behaviour and also accrued some credit for time spent previously in jail,” a spokeswoman for the Queens District Attorney said Friday. Now X looks to get on with his inactive career. He has left Def Jam and, despite links with 50 Cent’s G-Unit, signed with Sony Music.

In related prison news, word is Lil’ Kim has adjusted to life behind bars pretty well. The female rapper reportedly spends her time working at a prison-assigned job, reading ‘The Da Vinci Code’, responding to fan mail and writing lyrics. While Kim’s official release date is August 2, 2006, it’s expected that she will be released as early as late June. Kim will then be placed on house arrest until early August and will then be on three years supervised release.

In other news, Obie Trice has spoken on last week’s incident where he was shot while driving on a Detroit freeway. The rapper has said he was shot with a low calibre weapon, a 9mm handgun. “I don’t know where it came from, you know what I’m saying? I really don’t have a take on that, a lot of people are jealous, and jealous, and envious and hateful,” Trice said. “This is living in Detroit, and that’s all… You hear about it because it’s me, I got ties to Eminem or whatever, but I got people that are out there dealing with it every single day where I’m from. As far as all the rumors and guessing games, people talking road rage and all that nonsense, I’m not getting involved in any of that right now.” He added, “They didn’t take the bullet out my head. It didn’t penetrate my skull or nothing, but they didn’t want to go inside my head and mess with the blood vessels.” The Eminem protégée will seek further medical advise on whether or not they should operate to remove the bullet. The shooter has yet to be identified.

Finally, Jamie Foxx has knocked Mary J. Blige off the Billboard top spot this week in album sales. Foxx’s ‘Unpredictable’ sold 200,000 copies, beating Blige’s ‘Breakthrough’ by close to 7,000 records, which now sits in the No.2 position. Foxx has notched up 799,425 sales in total so far.
