royals101Participantas the top producer software? i love FL and wouldn’t switch, but i’m just curious on if Reason has become the new "it" thing that everyone will be asking about how to use.

ordioParticipantI bought a copy of Reason 2.5 and then bought the upgrade to see what the mastering suite would be like. I’ve not actually got it installed because I use fruity and cubase sx in it’s place. Each to their own though I would say

shivarParticipantThe mastering suite brings reason into life.

veekvegaParticipantHonestly, for hip hop beats i would say FL Studio is the best (especially v.6.0) BUT you got to use extra sounds (VST mainly) et get your own drum samples. Apart from that, it’s all in the box. Reason is too "electronic" for me. I love the instant feeling you get from FLStudio !

anisinaParticipantYou have to remember, that what suits one person may not suit another. Many use Reason for composition, and many others use FL for the same. But one does not fit all. We must not forget that it is the efficiency of putting down an idea that is first and foremost.
For me, I think Reason is best, but that is just for me. That does not mean I think FL is less than Reason as an whole, but FL does not match what I feel at ease with. I also don’t think that Reason (including 3) is good for a final mixdown, because I prefer to work with Cubase for that purpose.
What Reason does give you, is the feeling you are involved in every aspect. You have to create all you need, from mixers to samples, from a mono to stereo split etc etc.. because Reason is a true Software Studio in my opinion, and I find it hard to compare Reason with FL simply because they are totally different in the way you are obliged to create.

pitcherParticipantreason is nice, but without the support of vst is no match for flstudio. but the host isnt the key to making good music its the idea behind the track, i remeber songs back on impulse tracker sounding crazy and thats a dos program.

royals101Participantinteresting to see yall take on it, i just heard alot about reason and was wondering how yall felt about it

GodsOwnHitmakerParticipantI used to be a die hard "hardware" fanatic. I recently started messing with Reason 3.0 and I have been swayed to incorporate it into my set up. Fruity Loops didnt impress me as much.

veekvegaParticipantIt’s about what you feel you are the most comfortable with.
You can check for yourself with these.
(all beats are 100% Reasonproof – and 85% FL + 15 % secret ingredients…)I love the swing and the bump of FL Studio.
(v.6 is great)At the end of the day it’s the same thing with reason, FL Studio or MPC’s : it’s not what you have it’s you make of it (the basic config of hip hop producers is Motif (or Triton)+ MPC but some of them manage to have a very unique sound)

veekvegaParticipantOoops I forgot something :
Mainly and mostly done with FL Studio (as I said previously)
I don’t feel my sound is like 9th Wonder’s… (I’m not talking about quality. I don’t even pretend to a pro at it…)

WildAceParticipantcubase is the program that tops all of these
AdSense 336x280March 29, 2006 at 12:14 pm #587561
shivarParticipantYeh but that wasnt an option

dohboyParticipantI use Reason as a Rewire slave In FL Studio to get the best of both worlds. If reason hosted vsts I might use it exclusively but… Naah.. Fl is like an old friend. i could never live without it or m y plugins
