RichiePParticipantbootlegga wrote:this is my entry into the comp. This is one of many funky house tracks i am working on. not sure about high notes in basslline but think it goes well. all made using my own two hands (well and a mouse).I thought we were doing mixes, not bootlegs? Cause the backing track from this is from Canel “My Life”. Sounds different so you may have re-played it using synths but definatly the same notation.

RichiePParticipantwell, if it were a mix of Chanel, sure lol
Don’t wanna step on your mix mate as what you use is up to you, its just was unsure of the rules as it said something like you’re only allowed to sample the original track and acapella. But not up for me to decide anyway!

(here’s a clip of the original if anyone wanted a )

In SilicoParticipantHmm….way off key if you ask me. This pella is definately a harder one to match.

vice versesParticipantmy apologies to the competition, but i think im a little out of my depth here folks!, thought id enter (im more into my hip hop mashups) so i kinda dont really know where to start with a house track from scratch,
(my fault for not reading the rules properly)
i hope i havent caused any probs,

Juno et all, what happened to this post JUST being for submissions?[/quote:lzj1kk9m]I’ll just separate all posts without an attachment into another topic when the round is over – i knew that we’d have comments & feedback but its not a big deal – its a quick fix to get everything organized.

vice versesParticipantacapella…….. if its okay for you to take my place thats fine…
ive had a go at remixing the track. but to be honest i really would win booby prize! and i dont want to embarass myself or you all with the worst dance track since mr blobby went techno!
again my apologies if its caused any problem.

In SilicoParticipantRitchie, my recommendation (not to help the competition or anything
) is to raise the pella by at least 1 or 2 semitones until it matches the keys a bit better. It helps to focus on one note that should be the same or should harmonize between the vocal and the keys, and match that one note. If the rhodes are in the right key, the rest should fall in place as well.I don’t know if that applies throughout the whole song because I only listened to a bit, but in general, it sounded like your pella was a half-note or two flat.
Keep on chuggin’!
AdSense 336x280December 1, 2005 at 2:24 am #581439
SGFParticipantit’s rather easy to key match when you got a god vocoder to use ^__^
liked those two remixes btw, mine is goin towards another direction, but those two sound awesome
goodluck!AdSense 336x280December 1, 2005 at 6:36 pm #581454

junoParticipanti’ve had to add one thing to the rules –
All entries must be uploaded onto the site by attaching them to your post (using the Attachment Mod). Read for details on how attachments work.AdSense 336x280December 1, 2005 at 7:49 pm #581457
AxCaponeParticipantgot it
AxAdSense 336x280December 2, 2005 at 12:26 am #581461
SGFParticipantsounds pretty fresh. I’m just havin one hell of a time beat matching the vocals. as they aren’t the same tempo as the original track, lol, but hey, all in the name of the game right? 😉
AdSense 336x280December 2, 2005 at 10:54 am #581478
rinski2000Participantrichie the song is cool, ITs different, i was expecting all funk house remixes but yours is different but i do think the pitch of the vocals needs adjusting, wheres the beat it would sound great with a pumping stabby high pitched happy hardcore style beat.
AdSense 336x280December 2, 2005 at 1:29 pm #581482
acheadKeymasterNice work RMX, i think the vocal is a little out of time in a couple of places but over all it’s spot on!! Best so far in my opinion.
Mines making good progress but I’m stuggling to get it in key.
The trouble with this pella is you basically have two choices…
1) Make the song a “backing track” to the vocal and leave it pretty much on touched or…
2) Write a new tune and struggle like fuck to get the vocal in key!
Oops, I went for option 2
AdSense 336x280December 2, 2005 at 5:14 pm #581486
junoParticipantYeah i noticed that it was a little flat when i 1st started working with it.
Does anyone know what the ratio is between Change in Pitch/Change in Speed?
In my project the acapella is set to 121.14bpm & the original song is set to 123.38bpm (this may b different for your projects). thats a 2.24bpm change in speed. there has to be an easy way to figure out the change in pitch from that.I’m going to adjust it by ear also to get an average.
OR
isnt there a VST that harmonizes sounds into a certain key – kinda like what a vocoder does? i have one for midi but not audio……AdSense 336x280December 2, 2005 at 6:21 pm #581489
In SilicoParticipantI’m sure it’s something Antares makes…
AdSense 336x280December 3, 2005 at 10:32 am #581509
tim.gosdenParticipantSo do Waves I think?
AdSense 336x280December 4, 2005 at 6:43 pm #581538
JuggernautParticipantif my memory serves me correctly..i think speeding up a track by 6bpm (not pitch shift or time stretching) will bring said track up by a tone/key…
AdSense 336x280December 4, 2005 at 11:20 pm #581542
SGFParticipantI have no problem with the key, it’s the actual speed of it, cus it’s not in proper time, making it very time consuming to get the vocals to fit the track, something I generally dont have the time for or bother with when I’m remixing for someone, if they dont have the vocals properly in time I dont do it, but hey, I might have time to get it all wraped up, if not I’ll just see what I can do with a few lines.
AdSense 336x280December 5, 2005 at 12:23 am #581545
DJ ValParticipantPhew I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who can’t get the vocals right. I to am going to have to settle with jusing just a few snippets from the vocals. Not all to bad if the beat that goes with the vocal is sounding good.
Take care and see you all at the finish lineVal x
AdSense 336x280December 5, 2005 at 12:53 pm #581553
GMoneyParticipantI’m not entering the compy or anything but I’m using Reason 3.0, tempo set to 122.365 and the vocals pitched up “fine” 20 cent in the NN-XT sampler and it fits perfectly.
The verses are in a major key though and the chorus is in the corresponding minor.

Kelix[/quote:1x0yxf4o]I’m sorry Kelix, but the competition “sign-up” has already been closed for this one.
http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=16083But don’t dispair as there will be other competions in the future.
I think it would be a good idea for you to move your attachment to another post, as I think there will be alot of confusion created with members who vote and think you are in the competition. It’s be unfair for those members to waste thier votes. I don’t mean to sound a mean ol’ cow, but we have to have rules for these things, I’m sure you do understand where I’m coming from. Thanks for understanding.
Take careVal
By the way are you going to tell us how you got the acapella lined up so well
AdSense 336x280December 5, 2005 at 5:12 pm #581565
RichiePParticipantcareful beatmapping I’m guessing 😉
If you can enable the extension to be posted, I can upload the Acid sfk file for the acapella (I *think* that is the file that holds the beatmapping information).
