this is a huuuge letdown
i can’t use programs like camtasia or audacity to record what comes out of my speakers.
does anyone know a way around this?
it’s pretty inconvenient so any suggestions would be great!

What laptop do you have and does it have a pc card type thing?
surely your standard soundcard should have the whatyouhear/whatyourecord type option?
It wouldn’t be all that useful to loop the audio out of itself back into itself :s
I have a Sony Vaio but of course I would just be using headphones. The option for any program that has a "what you hear" function is usually greyed out.
Try checking your audio settings in your OS and enabling/disabling Stereo Mix.
