Post your lost creations (tracks) here!

I’ve giving my hard drive a bit of a clean up recently, and while doing that I came across a few tracks that I started but will never see the light of day for various reasons (such as accidently deleted project folders). The chances of me starting them all over again are pretty much slim to none, but I thought even though they are not finished and never will be, it would a shame to just delete them without the chance of them even being heard.

I’m sure I cant be the only one that this has happend to, so I thought it might be good to start up thread where people can post thier lost creations (if they have a copy that is).

O.k then, here’s mine>

This one’s a Stevie Wonder remix I started but accidently deleted the project folder. I had most of the parts worked out and started laying out an arangment. It sound pretty rough around the edges and hasn’t got any fx sends such as reverbs so it quite dry.

This next one is in the really early stages of development. What I had done of it, was put together quite quick. I came up with the piano riff (which I know I’ll never be able to recreate the same again) found a vocal that went well with it and tried to get a draft copy done before I lost the vibe. The plan was to go back and redo all the sounds from scratch, but I also deleted this one too, so that was the end of that.

This last one is the closest to completion out of all three tracks. I would say about 85% finished.

I opened up the project one day to be greeted with the message "missing project files" and never did find them so another one bit the dust!

Anyway, thats all of my lost creations which I hope will be the last, as I’m trying to keep things a bit more organized these days always make backup copys of projects now.

Has anyone else got any they’d like to share?

Oh mate, gutted!

A mate of mine did something similar, he was having a clear up, deleted a folder and it said "This folder is too big for the recycle bin, do you want to permanently delete it?". He hit yes and then realised that he’d deleted his whole music folder with every project he’d ever worked on. He felt sick!…… He’s got pretty bad luck when it comes to things like that though. The other night he phoned me up to tell me he’d spent the whole day working on a track he was really happy with, then called me the next day to tell me he’d turned on his computer to finish it, only to find he hadn’t actually saved it once!

I started backing all my stuff up on an external hard drive a while back and then got paranoid about something happening to it, so I went and bought another one. So now I have a back up of my back up which I’ve put somewhere safe…. although, I have considered a third, but I think that might be verging on OCD.
