djliambroadParticipantHi guys,
I love producing uplifting house music that has a nice sounding piano in there. I use Logic which has some piano sounds in its instruments that with some effects addded can sound nice. I recently got hold of an M1 sample for ESX24 that sound pretty cool but was wondering if anyone had any advice of anymore? It doesnt matter if I have to buy the sound or buy a new intrument (software).
Thanks Liam

hansausbremenParticipantwhat I found was that in most cases it is the way you play that makes the difference. surely you can not get a good sound with a 4 bit synth played like a boss, but in many cases the cheap sound comes from wrong or at least not the perfect way of playing the instrument. thats why so many people suck with brass and strings …. they get it ok but not really right.

transc3ndParticipantIMO the quality of the sound is as important or more important than how well or ‘properly’ you play it.
My advice to anyone wanting a better piano sound would be, get ahold of kontakt (or kontakt player if you don’t want to buy kontakt). Then you can get amaaaaaazing piano multisamples, some are better than others but I’ve found the ‘Synthogy German Ivory’ to sound incredibly realistic. Add a dash of reverb and you’re in touch-yourself territory. The ‘New York Concert Grand’ is a bit more versatile in terms of a more dance-orientated sound.

ombudsmanParticipantof course the M1 is the classic house piano sound, so if that’s what you’re going for you might want to get the Korg M1 plug-in from their legacy collection. i think it’s about $50, and you get all those classic M1 sounds, including the organ and a lot of other cheesy 90s goodness. use it with a good effects chain and you’re in business. for realistic piano sounds (not necessarily what you want for house), obviously the M1 won’t do.

clearybuzzParticipantthere are numerous pianos in ableton that can be modified and run through whatever effects that you want to give it that classic house sound.
