troublex3ParticipantHi everyone, I’ve been encountering this problem with a number of CD’s I have for a while. I have a few instrumental albums for different artists, but I’ll make Taylor Swift my example.
I have her official instrumental album and CD’s. I ripped the tracks in 320 kbps. So I know they’re the same quality.
However, when I import into Audacity and try to line up the instrumental with the regular album track, both tracks end up playing out of sync after a second.
Has anyone ever encountered the same problem? It’s odd because the instrumental is official but it doesn’t stay in sync with the album track. So it’s very hard for me to line up the wavelengths. Is the bpm different or something? Or am I just not doing this right?

I guess that the CD rip is of different speed. I suggest that you download both (via an official website such as beatport) to make sure that the tracks are same quality, same version etc. Once you start ripping from CD, conversion methods already cause small differences..
moreover and more importantly: if the tracks are different speed (as I conclude by your description), you will have to start stretching them, causing even more interpolation, cause more digital noise in the end up acapella. So I suggest you search same instrumental and original version of the track to start with.

By ‘out of sync’ do you mean:
The tracks are close together but ever so slightly out of sync (which might possibly create a flange effect when playing tracks together)
or
When the track starts are lined up do the tracks play out of time with each other?
