ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantAfter many hours of head scratching my head and grumping, a DIY is born
This is what I think Ive found out about this method.
Using MP3s is a complete waste of time, both the original version and instrumental
must be CD quality.Tracks must be identical speeds, although I found that even on the same CD
single, the original and the instrumental are slightly out. If you find this dont
timestretch (this will change the waveform and stop phasing).
Correct the speed by manually cutting the track just before where the speeds
drift, zoom all the way in and drag the section into time.Keep an eye on your levels, although your not hearing much when the phasing
occurs you may still clip. (Which I think Ive done slightly on the clip below)Adding tight eq to reduce a sound which wont phase out can be done at any time.
Simply insure identical eq is used on both tracks. (Save eq settings on one track
then load them onto the 2nd)BTW, heres the DIY;
Using CubaseSX
Ja Rule Mesmerize (clean edit) .wav
Ja Rule Mesmerize (instrumental) .wav[color color=red:2x394gdp]Link Removed[/color:2x394gdp]
(Right click ‘save as’)
If anyones found any other ‘stumbling blocks’ or has any advice that may help
us crack this black magic let us know.AdSense 336x280July 22, 2007 at 8:40 pm #629408
