djdyvurseParticipantDoes anyone know how to make a good mixtape intro? I’m talkin’ intros like Green Lantern, Rapid Ric, or Mick Boogie does? If You still don’t know what I’m talkin’ about, it’s where different parts of songs are put together to make one song. Are these done primarily on turntables, or are they done with turntables and a computer? How do you put one together?

neken187Participantive never heard of green lantern or any of those guys..but i think i might know what you’re talking about..all they do is cut up parts of an acapella and paste..you can use a comp program to make a mixtape intro..i think with acid you can..and magix.

freddy2Participantyo you never heard of green lantern??? he is like the god dj in my opinion, hes the main reason i got into mixing, hes really skilled, he used to be signed to eminems shady records, but he left after he told jadakiss what 50 cents next move was in thier beef, because it was caught on tape, he is also a producer, he has done 4 tracks for papoose and he did co-production on "mi casa" off the new biggie cd, you can see him djing in the video for "nasty girl"by biggie also

djdyvurseParticipantThanx ya’ll. appreciate the help. One thing you left out about Green Lantern though is that he did the beat for Ludacris’s "Number 1 Spot." I haven’t heard of Magix, but now I gotta look for it.

djdyvurseParticipantYeah, I would appreciate it if ya’ll would post ya stuff, so I can get examples. I’ve only done an intro so far with my cd players for my Texas mixtape, but it’s so short it comes off as an interlude. Plus, It took way to long to do.

the activistParticipantyeah, being a DJ with a lot of vinyl but also a CDJ, I tend to pick a tempo and then record all of the bits and pieces I want to use onto my computer. Then it’s just a matter of finding a good beat or two, working the structure out and cut and pasting all the individual segments. It takes a while to get a it sounding good but just listen to some intros that you like and then use your creativity to put together something that reflects your music. I also use my intros when I play out.
Krafty Kuts has some good intros bot on mixtapes and live as does the underground DJ network.
Let me know if you want links to my stuff or otherwise

silvershadowParticipantfor those that never hearda green lantern intro, there is one on his site:
http://www.djgreenlantern.com/site/index.html
it plays on the main page.
as of for intros, i would just record myself and cut up my voice, sample it, stutter, etc…and mix with instrumentals. just a simple introduction to the cd. however, i make dancehall/reggae cds, not hip hop and rap.
