djshadesukParticipantHere’s my latest: Mims – Like This [DJ Shades ‘Like Dat’ Remix]
For some reason I struggled a little with this track… Mainly due to not being able to come up with a riff that didn’t sound really twee… so I just left it out!! If anyone wants a crack at a riff let me know what you come up with, it may get put in the track (full co-credits given of course!)
Oh, and before anyone says it I know its bordering on ‘Scouse House’ (thanks largely to the break/build) but that wasn’t the intention… its just the road it took!
Let me know what you think guys!
DJ Shades
EDIT: Grrr, file attachment thing didn’t want to work for me so take a listen over at my MySpace page (link at bottom of this post). Its in the player on the left of the page!

djshadesukParticipantI know bumping posts is, ahem, frowned up shall we say but this will be the first and last, so… Somebody? Anybody?
Any comments would be appreciated even bad ones… at least then I’ll know to get it off my MySpace page pretty sharpish!!
Or was it because I putt the word ‘Scouse’ in there that instantly put people off?

DJ LevantParticipantHey Shades, Had a quick listen to this track. Sounds good, everything goes together nicely. Liked the vocal effects especially and the build/breaks are great.
I was sorta thinking that the track was missing something, but tbh I can’t really pin point what it is and am now thinking that it could just be that I was expecting a huge synth to kick in.Nice one, keep em coming!

djshadesukParticipantThanks for the feedback Levant. I hear what your saying about expecting a big synth line to kick in, thats exactly what I was having trouble with. However, inspired by your positive feedback I decided to have another stab at it… and came up with something that, I feel at least, works.
Only problem now is I’d sequenced the track without the synth and now I’ve gotta figure out where it needs to be if you see what I mean! Oh well, at least its heading in the right direction now!

Again, thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I will have the new version posted up soon!
Anyone else got anything comments? Good, bad or otherwise?!

djshadesukParticipantWhen I said "Anyone else got any comments? Good, bad or otherwise." Seanza, I didn’t quite mean about my hosting choices! LOL
I completely understand what your saying but I’d rather not make tracks downloadable (hosted on publicly accessible file servers) until I’m satisfied they are finished. Obviously, I don’t want to upset the apple cart or get special treatment (I know the forum rules state all tracks must be downloadable) so if there is a real problem with previews being listened to via MySpace – where, by using the player I’ve chosen, I can hide the true location of the file from all but the most determined – then I’ll start using file hosts. However, rest assured that once a track is finished it will be made available on publicly accessible file hosts… If I think a track is good enough then I’ll want people to be able to download it, listen to it and perhaps even play it out (though I doubt they’d be that good! LOL)
Like I said, I completely understand what your saying and, as its only a preference on my part, if you or anyone else has a problem then let me know and I’ll start using file hosts for previews, no problem what-so-ever!
You have given me a great idea for a site feature though…

djshadesukParticipantHey Daws, thanks for the comment but I really can’t take credit for simply making a radio edit of an Axwell remix… Actually, I guess I can take credit for the great editing though, even if I say so myself! LOL
Admittedly it did take a while as its been totally re-edited (when compared to the original remix). Having the acapella at hand helped for a few key parts (like the intro, echo’s, additional vocal inserts and reverse reverb effects) and sneaky use of a few original elements all helped to convincingly stitch the cuts together… Unlike some home-made radio edits I’ve heard where the cut points are soooo blatantly obvious.
Okay, I’ll stop blowing my own trumpet now!

Again, thanks for the comment… all are appreciated!

Feedback would be greatly appreciated… the original version is still there in the player if you wish to compare.
