Hi,

Are you asking for tutorials on writing melodies in general or for creating them in music programs. There is a big difference. As far as writing them in general the best way is to know what chord/progressions are being used in a track. Then you will need to find out what scales work with those chords. Certain scales work with cetain chords and not others. It’s not only about being in tune. Once I know what scales work with the chords I am using I usually "Jam Out" and tap into the emotions of the music. Sometimes it works and sometimes I call my friend who is a classically trained pianist( over 20 years of expereince).

This should get you started. I could find more info for you but just do a google/yahoo search on writing melodies, songwriting etc. There are plenty of good tips out there. You just have to look.

Besides all the theory, a good pointer by creating melody’s is simply your feeling…
Use your ‘ear’ to its full extent, sure you’ll know what will sound and what not over the years. But basically that’s where it all starts…
Just use you ‘gut’ to create dem sounds …

Learning theory helps in that it gives you pointers as to what is considered technically correct. however you should experiment and if it sounds right then it is!
