lasso the moonParticipantI know there are alot of madonna haters and depending on the time period i can be one as well,this being said ive always felt she got no respect for her vox ability and while no shes not a great singer in the tech capacity after hearing some of her 12 inch pellas without any effect on the vox Ive come to think shes quite underated as a singer….

JuggernautParticipantAgreed, but then again think of the type of music she releases…it’s pure pop at it’s finest (although that is also debateable depending on what we’re basing that on). over the years though her voice has transformed from "Minnie on helium" through to a more refined madonna (around Evita) and that’s more or less held, although Hung Up was quite remeniscent of her earlier voice but with the vocal training very much present.
Madonna is a pop artist firstly. and with all pop, the focus really isn’t on the voice (if they can’t sing, they’re run through a vocoder/Melodyne) it’s the image and the disposable music that’s churned out for that place on the charts/mags/net space hype…

LexusParticipantAll I have to say is that Madonna has the ability to be an rounded Artist!! she is not great although she can give a crowd pleasing performance and carries herself well with great reinvention at the right times!! Without Madonna’s influences we would not have some of the Female artists we have today!! Some what of a role model……

AdamTraceParticipantmadonna was all about attitude, not ability when she started. it’s quite right to say that the vocal training has picked up her voice for her, but i believe that first and foremost she is was and will be an entertainer/performer, not just a singer

lasso the moonParticipantat least for a while though madonna was the 80’s version of the beatles,,as far as her impact on culture/style etc etc..of coarse she’s not up to par songwriting wise with lennon/McCartney but her impact for a while in at least the american culture was huge

for various reason they all sing pop…One of the reason being they not unique singer
Why dont they sound like for example=mariah carey/whitney houston or christina aguilera
because these are gifted singers
but you cant slate madonna & co because of there lack of talent you just have to admire them
and envy the real singers!!!!!
