I just finished this track. It’s a remix of Hillary Duff’s "With Love".
I’d love some critique on this one. It started off as a really cool song and then it started to get kind of muddy. One of the things I learned from this beat is that arrangement is crucial. You have to really pick out your instruments properly before you just start throwing stuff in. The next beat I write, I’m going to figure out where each instrument lies in the frequency spectrum and make sure that nothing overlaps or at least doesn’t overlap much.
Any case, let me know what you think could make this better. Thanks!

DJSH4KESParticipantI’ve been trying to find this remix on here ever since I downloaded it lol I gotta say, I think it’s better than the official club mixes for this song because it is so hot!! The only thing I would change is that I think the acapella could be faster in places but on the whole it sounds fantastic. Good job

pixlkid: When you say that it didn’t pop, do you mean the arrangement just wasn’t there to start with or did you mean the production didn’t allow it to really be soaked in? Either or, I appreciate the critique. I’m just trying to learn from this.
I felt that the kick and the bass didn’t have a strong enough relation. I liked the sound of the kick and I side chained it to the layered bass but I felt like the bass almost got lost to some extent. I also felt like song in general felt kind of muddy as I mentioned before.
I know you mentioned darker, but any other thoughts?
