hanzzmusicParticipantSo I’m having the same discussion in another forum but I needed some more opinions. Basically I have A.D.D and I get bored of things quickly…so I’m looking to upgrade my few month old Xone 32. I want something with 1 or 2 extra channels and I’m thinking of hooking it up to a Kaoss Pad 3, but because the KP3 will have everything I need for effects I was wondering if the effects on other mixers will matter as much. These are the mixers I’m looking to upgrade to.
A&H Xone: 42
A&H Xone: 62
Ecler Nuo 4
Ecler Nuo 5
Pioneer DJM 600The only reason for me to get the Nuo 5 over the Nuo 4 is for its effects, but I’m also getting a Kaoss pad so I don’t really know if it’s worth it.
I spin house (all types), trance and top 40’s for parties (and eventually I want to start gigging at some clubs). I’m going to be bringing the mixer with me to every gig, so I want a realiable, heavy duty, good sounding mixer.
Any opinions?

NickMcParticipantSkip the DJM 600, and go streight for the 800 if you have the money for it. There are more effects than the 600. But the best part is that the overall sound quality from the 800 is way better than the 600. Its perfect for house and electronic music. Not to mention pretty much the industry standard in a lot of clubs now.

hanzzmusicParticipantI have narrowed it down to the Nuo 4 and 5 and the Xone 42, I thinking Pioneer is just overpriced and right now I want good sound quality. From what I heard, the Xone 42 and the Nuo series have unmatched sound & build quality for its price.

NickMcParticipantSure, you can never pass up better sound quality, but there is an advantage of getting the industry standard equipment. And that is that when you are playing out, than more times than not, the industry standard equipment will be the mixer used, and you will be used to it, and completely comfortable playing on it.

YoungVitoParticipantMy brother just got the Behringer DDM4000 and the thing is a freaking beast
4 inputs, we got 2 vinyl and a CDJ in
you can assign different effects to each of them and adjust the levels of them
its got a midi clock in it so that can help you mix better
its also got a recorder/sampler so you can record a break and loop it and such
im not much into DJ-ing just yet but im trying to get in to itAdSense 336x280May 23, 2009 at 4:56 pm #668009

32bit digital mixer with optical faders, sampler, fx… and almost everything is entirely customisable! It is also cheaper than a DJM800 and represents far, far, far better value for money than a DJM800 (well it is in the UK at least)… If I were you it would be something I would seriously, seriously consider!!!

When I was going for my mixer purchase I talked to the sales rep, he told me 2 out of 3 of the DDM’s they sold were sent back for repairs…so I wasn’t too sure about its quality. However its a shame because it looks like a realy nfun mixer, for tis price too.

Was this a sales rep for Behringer or an independent working on commission? I imagine the commission on a DJM800 would be far, far greater than a DDM4000! I’d perhaps take what he/she says with a little pinch of salt and do a little bit of google research.

I did a search on Google for "DDM4000 faults" and the majority of opinions were, at the first mention of a Behringer product, "Behringer is cheap, don’t buy", "It will fall apart in less than a year" however these were all from people who haven’t yet used the DDM4000… The people that did put there money on the line have nothing bad to say about the DDM4000, apart from, as far as I saw, the fact that the faders are a little light.

theslagParticipantPioneer DJM 800 and you’ll be using the same equipment you’ll find in 90% of clubs around the world.
