DJThuhtParticipantI saw this light in a video that was super simple, (it was actually a wall of them), and i figured they’d be relatively cheap, since they look just like those fluorescent light tubes..except they do red and blue, and i’m assuming are dmx controllable. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any lights like this (a link would be nice too =) <- woah! I just ended a parenthetical statement with an emoticon! That deserves your time 😉

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantWe used to sell tubes like these in a disco shop but they were actually really expensive.
http://www.jpleisure.co.uk/item1478.htmThey will go all around the room or along a wall and the light obviously runs along in different patterns.
You can find cheaper ones which can be linked but require no controller.AdSense 336x280April 1, 2008 at 11:00 pm #646944
DJThuhtParticipantAh… yeah that is kind of expensive considering what you could get for the same price…
So, these cheaper ones…they have no controller, but do they do sound to light?Maybe I’d be better off with some scanners…

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantThey are not sound to light, but they have inbuilt programs.
What exactly are you needing them for?
They would be useless for mobile work but look fantastic on fixed installations when placed around a room so you can watch the different colors chasing around you.AdSense 336x280April 1, 2008 at 11:32 pm #646952
DJThuhtParticipantMounting on a wall (permanent).
So these inbuilt programs…there’s no real way to sync it with the music then? Say I wanted them to be blue on the upbeats, or I wanted them to be red during intense moments… I couldn’t do that with the cheaper ones?Edit: i was thinkin’ like these guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe4Svn2hB7ILessee… there’s about 25 columns, alternating 4 and 5 lights each, so ~110 lights there (conservative), and at 100 pounds each, thats at least $22,000 for just that wall of lights. Is that right?
