johnnybabyParticipantBy the way – I think with the file host I have you need to do a Save As instead of open – for some reason it only downloads half of the file if you do it the Open way..
PROBLEM FIXED – New Link above

I uploaded the full mp3 – but when people download it sometimes it just decides to download a partial file ! Trying to find alternative methods at the mo !Hmmmmmmm…. not EVEN half! (538kb)
Maybe try MusicBuilder.net……….
Please let me know when this is sorted as this sounds promising!– Voicedude

johnnybabyParticipantAny more feedback ?? Cheers !

VoicedudeParticipantOK. I’ll give it a go…..
I like the feel of these two songs together. They are very compatible.
I have two minor quibbles:
One is that the vocals are a bit loud, and should lay back as part of a fit with the tracks a bit more. Any time the vocals are loud it feels a bit artificial, and these two songs are too compatible to feel that way.The other is the opening two lines. In the J5 original, they are a part of a chord ‘turnaround’ – different chords than most of those used in the rest of the song. That is why they clash a bit with the BEP’s chords which are more straightforward, i.e. the same as the rest of the song. I would try re-pitch the J5 VOX to fit better (although there may be no fixing it in this case) or just leave it out entirely (most people don’t remember that the J5 song starts that way anyway).
The other fix I suggest is to use the opening from the original BEP for that section, and when the verses come in – it’s the J5! It’s a good fake-out set up. Just FYI, whenever I use a karaoke for the ‘mental track, I try to still use as much of the tracks from the original artists as possible for a more natural feel (unless, of course, they really don’t match very well)
I hope that was helpful! It’s a great mash that only needs some minor tweaking to make it perfect!

johnnybabyParticipantHey voicedude ! Really appreciate your feedback and indepth look at the mix ! I totally agree with you about the vocals level… I was thinking myself once i’d mixed it down and compressed it they sounded seperate and not meshed like it should be, i’ll be sorting that out in the near future.
I’ll probably see how the tune sounds without the "STOP! You better save it" lyrics at the start, as they sound a bit ill placed compared to the rest of the tune which flows quite nicely !
As always more feedback is always welcome folks so keep it a comin’ !
Be on the look out for Where is the love you save ? V2

acheadKeymasterHiya bud, I just listened to your remix and i like it alot, it is very well put together but as mentioned the vocal are a bit loud and the start "for me" just isn’t right. I have altered the start a very tiny amount and think it sounds better. I hope you don’t mind but it is a great mix and I think apart from the vox levels this just finishes it off

cheers

johnnybabyParticipantDJSP ! Dude !! That’s awesome !
I’m flattered that you took the time out to do that quick edit for me – back in the country I used to live in ! Nice one mate !
– Your intro will definitely be slipping in the next update of this mix… !If I get time today i’ll be sorting out the vocals so they blend with the rest of the BEP !
Thanks again !

Could you post the final version?

MASHFLASH!!!!
Hey all,
Just to let you know – I’ve replaced the link at the top of this page with the Updated version of the tune… The vocals were a pain in the a** to level out with the rest of the tune as the amplitude changed from one moment to the next – I think I got there in the end… Also the intro has been adjusted due to popular demand !
I hope you enjoy the changes !
Johnnybaby !
Be on the lookout for Sean Paul Vs Whoomp there it is – Coming soon !By the way: Whats a dubplate ?(first time i’ve heard of that word!)
AdSense 336x280May 6, 2006 at 3:57 pm #589396
TandParticipantA dubplate is simply a record. Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubplate. I’ll take that as a yes!
AdSense 336x280May 6, 2006 at 4:17 pm #589398
johnnybabyParticipantWell you learn something new everyday !
A dubplate is an acetate disc – usually 12 inches, 10 inches or 7 inches in diameter – used in mastering studios for quality control and test recordings before proceeding with the final master, and subsequent pressing. The name also refers to an exclusive, ‘one-off’ acetate disc recording pioneered by Jamaican sound systems but also used by drum and bass and other dance music artists, DJs and soundsystems.
These dubplates will often be either unreleased recordings (which may or may not end up being made available to the general public) or exclusive versions or remixes of existing recordings. They are often used as a market research tool to assess the probable sales of a tune once its released, as they are far cheaper to produce than a pressed vinyl, but because they are made of acetate rather than vinyl, they have a limited life-span.
Vinyl dubplates are a recently-developed format which allow extremely durable recordings to be made (lasting 90% as long as pressed vinyl) and are more suited to cases where no release is imminent, or the release date is a long time away.
The name also lends itself to the term dubplate special which refers solely to an exclusive version of a piece of music, usually (re-)recorded by a reggae or dancehall artist for a (Jamaican) sound system. Reggae soundsystems will often compete with each other to acquire the most imaginative or unusual dubplate specials in order to win soundclashes with their rivals. Although CD is the preferred format for these recordings today, the name dubplate has been kept.
Tand ! This is purely an MP3 Release

TandParticipantDjsp wrote:Hmmmm, any chance you could make a 12" version m8?That’s the plan. But it’s a one copy limited edition
AdSense 336x280May 6, 2006 at 9:35 pm #589425
johnnybabyParticipantDjsp ! Great stuff ! If anyone asks you who did that great mix at the christening – pass on the credit 😉 !
Tand ! No problem !! As long as you keep the credit with me you’re more than welcome to dubplate away ! How much will that cost you – i’m curious ?
AdSense 336x280May 7, 2006 at 7:21 am #589439
TandParticipantThat’s no question!
A dubplate costs 35€ which are approx. 40$. I’ll get a 12" with 12 minutes of music on each side. Normaly I compile several mashs (some of mine and some of yours e.g.) and buy 2 12" at a time.

great tune 5 stars….could you tell me what music program you use to do your mixes. please.
Thanks.AdSense 336x280May 9, 2006 at 11:48 am #589549
johnnybabyParticipantSure… No worries SIPAUL ! I must’ve been busy replying to your last forum message when you was writing this !
I usually used acid 4.0 for the beatmixing and lining everything up… then for additional fx I shove it into Adobe Audition to give it the finishing touches !!
Thanks for the feedback man ! Appreciate it !
AdSense 336x280May 11, 2006 at 7:57 pm #589677
RobertPParticipantLove this one too – johnnybaby – you have real talent! I am thinking of starting up a fan-club

Keep up the good work
Robert
