If you use all that, I think we’re all in for a run for our money!
Can you post a track that you’ve produced?
Tim. (great name btw!)

DJ ValParticipantSince the “House section” on the forum index page indicates that the “house forum” is for all our Funk, Deep, Vocal & Progressive House, it also states that Trance and Dance comes under this section.
Juno does this mean that our remixes can be in any or the styles mentioned above?Take care

Self_InflictedParticipantI’m in…please! would be doing a hard house mix, so as Val says, would this style be ok for this kind of competition?
Cheers!!!AdSense 336x280October 11, 2005 at 3:53 pm #579703
junoParticipantafter thinking about it i think any type of EDM should be welcome
no doubt that we have a wide variety of styles going into this competition. I dont want anyone to feel like they need to try & do something that drifts from their style to fit in with the rest of the crowd.all types: House, Trance, Breakbeat, Elektro, Garage & any smaller subgenres are all good – just as long as we’re all in the normal range of dance music [ 120bpm – 150bpm ]. The catch to having that creativity is that you have to please the judges to do well in this comp – dont go too far with it b/c they will most likely be House producers & DJ’s.

Hey Juno,
I am curious as to how the judging is set up. What are the criteria for judging? For example I was thinking of this approach.
I have noticed that in other contests on this site the winners are selected by site members voting. What about a criteria like this.
Break the judging into two parts.
Part 1:
50% of the judging is by member voting.
Part 2:
50% is by official judging with a break down such as this. Have the judging in 4 parts were as all 4 parts combined add up to 100% i.e.
25% production ability/technique: i.e. sound quality, smooth transitions, timing just to name a few
25% creativity: did the creator sample(if so how did they go about it), did they create their own music( beats, rythms, melodies etc) or was it a combination of the two used.
25% degree of difficulty: pretty self explanitory.
25% Likabiltiy: did you like it or not etc.
This is just something I have been thinking about. I am pretty sure you have allready figured this out but I thought I would put my two cents in.

tim.gosdenParticipantVery good idea Cutter. Its lets those who have great ideas and not the best prodcution skills in with a chance, and vise vers!
Also the likability helps, as not all people have the same music tastes!

I forgot to mention that a rating scale should be used for each part of part 2.
i.e.
1-5 or 1-10 whatever floats the boat.

tim.gosdenParticipantSo when can we start then!! I think everyone who is serious about entering is in!
AdSense 336x280October 13, 2005 at 7:30 pm #579826
junoParticipanthey Tim
i know everyone’s ready to get started. I’m going to set aside sometime this weekend to get everything up on here.@thecutter – i like your ideas – i’ll use that system for judging. When it comes to the last round Playmaker is gettin us some pro ears for the judging
what i have decided->>>>the comp will be 3 rounds – in the first two rounds everyone will be split into groups (not teams) & each will be assigned an acapella. YOU MUST CREATE A REMIX, not a mashup, or bootleg, Complete 100% from one-hits, synths, & FX.
AdSense 336x280October 13, 2005 at 7:51 pm #579827
DJ ValParticipantJuno pray tell the silly bird, what do the “groups” mean?
AdSense 336x280October 13, 2005 at 7:55 pm #579828
tim.gosdenParticipantI am guessing loops are not allowed then? (not that I use loops, but jsut checking as I know someone used a bass hook loop, that was REALLY good last time, and it seemed a bit unfair!:P)

Just curious.

junoParticipantDJ Val wrote:Juno pray tell the silly bird, what do the “groups” mean?makes it easier for rounds – its easier for ppl to listen to 6 versions & decide their favorite more than if they had to decide after listening to 30 versions. the creme of the crop rises to the top of each group & is scooped off for the next round.

DJ ValParticipantWell once again we loose out on the house remix competition!!! Now that the site is closing and the end of the month that’s not going to leave too much time for a competition.
Sh*t I’m damn upset we’re closing.Val

junoParticipantI hear ya Val
I didnt expect it either & it does kinda suck b/c once again OUR house comp is going down the poop-shoot. Not my fault I promise! At this point I cant answer many questions as I’m clueless like the rest of you. I will officially apologize to you all and if you have any ideas then hit me up via PM or email.

Hey Juno,
What about asking the founders of http://www.7xl.co.uk/ who are Slxl, Se7en and Gelo if it would be possible to carry the house competition over to there site. They are all big supporters of Acapellas 4u and I bet they might just say yes. It is worth a shot. This could also be a great way to keep Aca 4u participating members community together in one way or another. Just an idea considering the situation.

tim.gosdenParticipantYeah, DJ Caned helped set up that site, I know that for fact, so he “might” help up continue the comp?
I think it would be good if we do another one, to acutally release a 12″ of all the best tracks!
Just on white label, say 500 copies?

acheadKeymasterHey Guys,
I Know You’ve Been Trying To Get This House Competition Going For A Long Time.
Juno Has Approached Us At 7XL About Hosting The House Competition, I’m Waiting To Hear The Final Word From The Other Co-Owners At 7XL But I’m Almost Certain That It Won’t Be A Problem
The Only Problem I Can See Arising Is Getting The People To Run It, Myself And SLXL (DJ Caned) Are Both Busy Working On Projects At The Moment, So In Order To Run The Competition We Will Need To Hire At Least 2 More Moderators.
At The Moment I Can’t Officially Say We Can Host It As I Still Need To Hear Back From A Few People, But As Soon As I Get Any Information I’ll Let You All Know.Peace

SE7EN[/quote:22gqo9su]Hiya Se7en, I can only speak for myself, but if I can help in anyway just give me a shout. I’ve not run a remix competition before, but with a bit of guidence from helpful members, I’m sure I’ll pick it up ok. Also if this means stepping out of the competition, then so be it.
Take care

Tim I insists that if this goes ahead you compete. You have far too much talent to sit on the sideline. I mean it, you will loose your number one fan if you drop out!!!!

I think Val & I would be more than happy to help and/or fully run the comp if you guys decide that its okay.Good to see everyone sticking together & making this thing work…..everyone that signed up – keep an eye on this thread. House will prevail
