it’s ok…you need some work on your navigation. going to a page and having to always navigate back to the home page can get tedious. Also having the back button only on the bottom of the page means people have to scroll to find it (forcing people to scroll isn’t ideal if it’s avoidable).

So, if you sorted out some kind of permanent vertical or horizontal navigation that is prevalent on all pages, that should essentially rule out the need of a back button. If you want them to come back ‘home’ use your signature image as a home button instead. or just have a ‘home’ button.

Not 100% true. It’s a fundamental usability error to presume that everyone has the same mouse. For example, on my powerbook i have one button and the track pad. no left or right or centre button.

If you look at loads of sites there’s usually a very good (even if it’s basic) navigation system used.

Sure you can use the forward/back button in your browser but what if someone wants to jump to other places on your site? and not go to the home page all the time.
