silvershadowParticipanti was wondering if anyone had any holophonic sound effects.
for those who dont know what holophonic sounds are, its basically sound that sounds like it is surround sound, however, it is comming out of just two speakers.
i believe this link still works, for an example:
http://www.holophonic.ch/archivio/testa … phonic.mp3
and, a tip, to hear it better, use headphones.

anisinaParticipantWell, brilliant. I was a bit disturbed by the ‘holophonic’ sound, including the swan vestas, but I am definately interested in learning a lot more about it.
I think this is what Juno was asking about in another thread. If you know how to create ‘holophonic’ I think it would be helpful.
Thanks silvershadow.

WiperParticipantRemember physics?
The position of a sound sorce is calculated in the brain.
Imagine that your ears are just two mics.
There is a certain length in beetween the ears (that is where the brain is
).Now, when a sound sorce is 4m away 40 degrees in left, the sound gets faster to your left ear, thus resulting in a shorter length of sound waves (thus bigger freq).
To your right ear, sound waves are longer because of the longer way through space the sound takes. This is called the Doppler effect. It’s the basis of a lot devices today, but still isn’t very much used in music. In proportion of the L & R signals taken, our brain calculates everything else.
Basicaly, it’s possible to simulate realistic panning by piching one of the channels up or down a little.
But, in real-time processing, to simulate space and sound through it, it’s waaaay to complex to be done today.
I’ve been making the algorhytm for this kind of processing for some time now, just to understand is this possible or not… And it looks possible, but if you want to spend about 80% of a 2GHz processor on it…
I’ll inform you people if i find something new and interesting.

silvershadowParticipantthanks for the lesson wiper. i havent done that in physics yet. but i understood everything u said.
thanks lewelsch for the links.
i searched for the word "holophonic" and i didnt find anything in the forums, so i decided to make a new thread.

In SilicoParticipantThat’s a cool file silvershadow – fun to listen to.
It’s also known as quadraphonic or hexaphonic sound because it can be controlled in 2 axes(4 directions hence quadraphonic) or 3 axes or 6 directions if you include the vertical one(hence hexaphonic). A friend of mine who owns a club set up a joystick that allowed him to manipulate the sound like this realtime for the dancefloor. He’d sit up in the booth for hours on end messing with the little club kiddies who came out to get messed up and listen to some bangin tekno.
