djshadesukParticipantHi all,
Was wondering if you could all take a moment to tell me what you think of the very unfinished W.I.P that is DJ Shades – Darlin’
You can find the track on my MySpace page [url:qn6p7fsv]http://www.myspace.com/djshadesuk[/url:qn6p7fsv]
its in the music player on the left hand side. If it doesn’t automatically play click on the little down arrow at the bottom of the player and navigate your way to my track.
I know tracks are supposed to be available for download but in this totally unfinished state I don’t particularly want anybody to have a copy of it yet. Sorry!
Oh, I know that the vocals are a little too quiet for the main part, that will be fixed as soon as I finish work tonight, however they are supposed to be quite during the break/build!
Thanks guys!

MichL*ParticipantHey Shades!
I listened to your track (as well as i did listen to some others on your profile
)
Gotta say, the song is a bit to "trancy" for me (i dont like trance too much).
The start is pretty badass, fat kick, but sound a bit too "cut off", maybe you could try some combinations with the RV7000 Advanced Reverb (from the sound of the track, i guess you use Reason).
The bassline is pretty killer, but i think that trance-like stuff that starts around 01:06 doesnt fit to the actual style you were approaching, just my opinion.
Then again, its starts to pretty get forward around 02:06, were the trance stuff fades and the bassline begins to turn up, from there i like it very much!Overall its a pretty solid and forwarding track, pared with a bit of hardstyle… its just my opinion, but getting rid of those trance parts, and adding some more "electro" to it would wind it up more.
Maybe you could even add a slight distortion to the vocal samples, to fit the "harder" style of the drums.I’d like to show you some examples of electronic tracks i did, but sadly my webspace is down, hope to fix it soon

djshadesukParticipantHey Hannez, thanks for your comments.
I feel you may be right about the trancey element but for now I’ll just wait to see if I get a few more comments before I go ahead and start to change things about… I’ve got a few ideas but they can wait for now.
I tried playing it early doors last night at the club I DJ at (its an RnB night too!!!) strangely it went down rather well, and had people up dancing. This was great, especially as most people are usually a little self concious about dancing in a room where there is open space until there is a "critical mass" of people in the room.
What makes it even more surprising is that this club is in an area that is notoriously backwards in its musical thinking. If a track hasn’t been hammered on the radio or TV then people on the dancefloor almost stop dead (and do a little un-sure "wobble" dance while waiting for something they know to come on) or just go to the bar for a drink!! So the fact that they were up and dancing to this track on the first time its ever been played in public was fantastic
If anyone else has any feedback good or bad it is all gratefully recieved… especially about levels (which I’m usually hopeless at!) and production quality.
Hope to hear from more of you soon!

djspyderb4everParticipantGood track.
I hear what you’re saying about the mainstream radio music. It’s is like that in many of the clubs here in the states as well.
The bottom line on your own creations is if YOU like it then that’s all that really matters. Personally, I make remixes that I like to hear, ones that will help my ride to work everyday be a little more enjoyable as i fight traffic. Thanks for posting it.
Cheers!!AdSense 336x280October 27, 2007 at 5:03 pm #635989

[/quote:30ngzuvl]I agree, it’s more trance… but I love trance!
I really liked it and if you boosted the vocal volume a tad it would be great.

However I don’t want to be the only person that likes it… if it were just for me I probably wouldn’t even bother, no matter how much I like what I create (I’m far too lazy… erm, I mean laid back!!). I want my tracks to get butts shifting on the dancefloor, if I see that others are happy and having a good time to something I’ve done then I’m happy (okay, okay… I’m just an attention whore!!) This track is intended to be out there, getting played, in clubs and for people to rock their little socks off to!! Perhaps I’m being a little over-ambitious but hey, if you dont try… (whether it actually happens or not is a totally different story!!)

I never would have thought it would be called trancey. I just intended the break/build to sound fairly chilled to give that bassline a bit of extra punch when it comes in. There is possibilities to change it but that might be the ‘Remix’
The vocal is being boosted… as soon as I get the chance, for the moment beer is the top priority so nothing is going to get done!! Hey, still gotta party!!!
I did notice last night that the bassline didn’t seem quite deep enough. It just might have been the soundsystem but I can’t be quite sure (acoustically the room is pretty rubbish too though!). Anybody got any comments about that?
If anybody has got anything else they’d like to say please feel free! The more feedback the better!!
