Everything But The Girl ‘Missing’ Sammiejoe’s Bouncy RMX

Not a bad effort for the style… although I do have a few points…

During the first verse the guitar (which is panned to the right) seems a tiny bit out of time.

Given the style I’d say you need some sort of synth line in there too. Just to break it up a little and make things a little more interesting to listen to rather than just… donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk, donk all the way through! A nice, catchy synth line can be the difference between a forgettable track and one that gets stuck in peoples heads.

I think the beat needs strengthening at some points. A ride cymbal can achieve that nicely, but don’t go over the top. Perhaps even a gated, rapid closed hat (but only very quietly) and a few snare rolls wouldn’t go amiss too.

Why not throw in a couple of mini breaks/builds (perhaps one or two bars in length) just to break things up a little too? Some tracks really benefit from them as it adds a little element of unpredicatability.

Sorry to sound like I’m ripping your work apart but it sounds a little samey all the way through… in my own opinion it just needs a few elements here and there to spice things up and give it a little more life.
