KemoSwabyParticipantI’m not engaged or married but it is definitely a decision not to be takin’ lightly. It all depends on a couple of factors…
A: How long have you been together?
If you haven’t been with her that long you might consider waiting to get engaged.
B: If you are living together currently and for how long?
If you haven’t lived with her at all you definitely want to get a place together and try it out for a while. People can change or turn into someone totally different when you live with them.
C: Do you want to spend the rest of your life with her?
Big decision.
Also, I thought I saw on your Bebo profile that you’re 16 or 17?
IMO That’s kind of young to be thinking about marriage. If you think you’re in love and you want to spend the rest of your life with her then go for it!
There are plenty examples of marriage being "worth it." But, there are probably twice as many examples of marriage not being "worth it."
Not trying to be pessimistic, but you don’t want to end up divorced in ten years with only half your sh*t. hahaha!Anyways, if you do go through with it, congrats and good luck man!

jefpeaceParticipantDepends on who the lady is, who you are, and most importantly, who you are together.
I’m on my second marriage. The first round lasted 10 years and if I could do it over again, we wouldn’t have had the first date.
My current wife, however, is also my best friend. Going on 15 years and still as in love as the day we first kissed.
I also agree with KemoSwaby … you’re much too young to be considering marriage.

JuggernautParticipantechoed.
i was engaged (i’m 22 turning 23 next month) and we’d been living together for almost 2 years. When you think you’ve seen every side possible of a person, you haven’t.
I was the one who popped the Question, then he went off to Wales for 2 weeks, there after he was full of so much anger/rage (was subjected to 2 hours of him having a go at me in a pub infront of his mates). i broke it off and moved out.
Now in hindsight i’m REALLY glad i broke it off early before becoming another short-marriage/early divorce statistic for England.
I’d say live with her first! if you’re still tied down by living with mum and dad and can’t sustain yourself with a decent paying job to cover living (Rent, travel food, council tax, etc.) expenses, i’d not ask. instead enjoy what you have now and explore your relationship as it stands.
So, when you both feel more grounded (and, me being old fashioned, but hey, i did it, asking the father/mother for her hand in marriage and given their blessing) have a good hard think and if it all gels well, go for it.
you’ll hopefully have missed the recession so life will be easier.

GMoneyParticipantI met my wife when we were both 12 years old, and even I, the one who once stuck his finger in a light socket just to see what would happen, wasn’t foolish enough to propose at such an early age! You are young, your loins are burning I’m sure. At least wait until you’ve both got an education and have lived together for awhile dude. What in the crap are you thinking???
Honestly.
Just frigging wait.
From Dad
(not your dad, but a happily married father of 2 boys who would say the same thing to his own kids)PS – The short answer to your question is YES, your life is pretty much over if you go get married, which will inevitably end with divorce and you’ll carry that baggage around for the rest of your damn life thinking "I should have listend to GMoney". Smarten up.
