BoBoParticipantYou know whats funny, I probably won’t get any repliese, but what do people think of Eminem as a producer? I personally think he sucks and his beats are tired.
Any input?

AnonymousInactiveActually, all hip hop beats are based around repetition so he is no different from the Neptunes, Kanye, Swiss Beats (truthfully, he is wack), or any other hip hop producer besides Dre and Timbaland.

BoBoParticipantMost Hip Hop is repetitive but to call the Neptunes repetitive I dunno….
Eminem’s beats are not only repetitive but annoying and not very well made, they sound off in some places.

BoBoParticipant[quote:3qg1prtn]Hope that clears some of the misconception up.[/quote:3qg1prtn]
Hahaha let me clear something up for you my friend. There is nothing more in this world I hate then people who pretend they know what they are talking about. Like you for example. The only thing you said in your post that is remoteley accurate is:
[quote:3qg1prtn]He may not be the best producer but he is very talented in his own right.[/quote:3qg1prtn]
Eminem is very talented in his own right….. he is a talented lyricist and rapper, and he should stick to what he knows. He is a terrible producer.
Also you got some big balls on you, saying DRE and Tim don’t do their own stuff…. what do you know?? I wanna know where you got this information from. Have you ever been to the studios where they write and record in??? I have! Never met them but I have been there. DRE and Tim are gods to the industry, next thing you know your gonna tell me that Quincy Jones doesn’t do his own shit too. (do you know who Mr.Jones is??) I had to ask that because I don’t think you know anything. Keep your opinions to yourself unless they are asked! Never state your opinion as fact!!!

DjNocturnalParticipantthe neptunes are the best producers in my opinion, as far as eminem goes i guess he’s ok, but its only because he has people like dre and melman behind him…i used to like timbaland, but now his stuff is getting kinda old.
AdSense 336x280March 5, 2004 at 2:44 am #565024
aaj2006Participantwhoa, you two should create your own section just to duke it out with each other! hahaha! jk. ok, sorry for being intrusive

akademiksParticipanteminem’s beats arent too bad……
his beats usually are 10 seconds looped.AdSense 336x280March 8, 2004 at 1:11 am #565030
aaj2006ParticipantI agree that his beats are a little similar. all of them sound the same. not like, they have the same bassline or drums, just that very generic. you can tell that they are his tracks. but i like that generic style so its no bother to me.

MelParticipantI don’t think Em suck as a producer. True–the Runnin’ track was garbage compared to the original, but I thought he did an okay job with One Day At A Time Remix, as far as matching Pac’s rythmn. However, his verse seemed a bit watered down after listening to Pac’s, even with his talent for wordplay. Maybe the serious tip isn’t his style.
Unfortunately, I haven’t heard any of his tracks as a producer that makes me say “DAMN!!” or “THAT’S HOT!” But then again, look who his mentor is. Dre is tight, but I think he’s a bit overrated, cause it’s some cats that’ll kill him when it comes to production (listen to The Neptunes, Jazze Pha, and underground cats like The Alchemist and Hill Inc.)

MelParticipantEminemfan – pretty obvious why you think he’s good at everything. But the truth is, his beats need a hell of a lot of work. Much love to you though, don’t mean any disrespect to you.
As for Sunshine’s question, yes, he has done a lot of his own production–especially in some of his more recent work. Another thing, please don’t overrate Dre as much as the media has throughout his career. The truth is, he has a team of people who help him compose the beat of a song. A lot of his efforts go into the final mix and post production of the work.

resetParticipantagreed, eminem is an outstanding lyicist. I also agree with the view that he is a far better poet than producer. As far as repitition in hip-hop is concerned, the genre naturally is canabalistic by design. I do admire eminem for at least stepping out and giving it a solid effort. honestly, i’ve been quietly making beats for over a decade, and I can’t honestly say I can do it any better. For my money, the anti-pop consortium are the most original beat producers in hip- hop/jazz.

eikcamlloydParticipantI think eminem a pretty cooool dude his lyrics are good i dont think he;s up there with the best producers yet
AdSense 336x280May 4, 2004 at 5:44 pm #565349
eikcamlloydParticipantDre for me has nothing to prove, yes he,s trying other things, that may not appeal to others, but thats what its all about, the experiance he has is second to none.

djballaParticipanti think eminem started with great promise and potential, and then like a lot of rappers succumbed to greed and dished out cheap catchy beats to get easy sells instead of truly putting his heart into it. the title of producer sounds nice, but the quality needs to back it up. that’s just my opinion

Cause that track he produced for Jay-Z called “Moment Of Clarity” was so awful, you could almost smell it through the stereo speakers.

MelParticipant[quote quote="bucketkilla":qco2tcgl]
now, when he’s making beats for other artists he’s not afraid to try new things.. compare 2pac & biggie’s runnin & lloyd banks on fire to em’s stuff.. totaly different,
[/quote:qco2tcgl]Correction, my friend! Kwame’ produced “On Fire.” Eminem played that “get in where you fit in” game and assisted him. And if you really listen to music, you would know what part of the track Em’s responsible for. Right at the end of the song, the track goes from “old school, party flavor” to “angry blonde bs,” with that same ol’ piano-key routine you can always expect from our pal Em.
Everybody thought Em was responsible for the track, and Kwame’ admitted to getting frustrated. Lloyd Banks began clearing this rumor up at various presses, giving credit to where credit was due. That track is way over Em’s head. Now these “Eminem” sites need to get their stories straight.
