dan1eh_24ParticipantAnyone got any ideas on how to produce the sound for goa trance basslines?
Any help would be appreciated.AdSense 336x280May 8, 2007 at 3:51 pm #620928
voxnbakerParticipantNot sure how Goa trance basslines go, but if they are anything like D’n’B I would suggest either lot’s of reverb and double up a few different basslines together. Or… sample them.

Never used Logic 7 m8 so not familar with it. From what you say you already have the kick peaking so off the top of my head I would suggest lowering everything else then mastering it to boost the volume.

voxnbakerParticipantI sussed it… sample a kick from someone else!

AL321ParticipantIf that kick is peaking, then everything else must be approaching 0db also, because the mids and treble sound far too loud compared to that kick.
If i was you, i would redo all the levels, starting with the kick and don’t push to get every sound as close to 0db as you can. Make it fit with the kick.
Then if the end result is too quiet for release, you simply maximise it with a maximiser plug-in.
I also used to get this problem until i realised that if every sound is at 0db, the bass will always sound lower than the rest. So build all your levels around the bass and maximise the end result.
hope that helps.

voxnbakerParticipantYes, i’m starting to work that out… simple solution to simple problem. Plus, i’m figuring out how to get the best from limiting and compression.
As i mentioned before, sampling a kick I liked meant all the EQing etc was already done for me!
Thanks for your help though. The finished track is called Criminal Youth and it’s at http://www.myspace.com/bordellorecords
