gloombotParticipantI’ve been meaning to get back into production for a bit now and I’ve got some ideas that I want to play around with.
It’d be cool to find someone to BS about the subject a bit.
I’m going to mention that I’m /really/ white so I know I’m going to do absolutely blasphemous things as far as the genre goes. You know, just putting that out there ahead of time.

gorky0123ParticipantGo for it – I don’t think your skin color will have any effect on your output whatsoever lol… I must say the trap stuff I hear nowadays is very creative as far as the ideas go, but the production is so sub par. no dynamics, everyone is trying to have their mixes so loud & too much is going on.. avoid that.

gloombotParticipantI clearly didn’t put enough emphasis in there for the joke to get across.
Admittedly, part of what’s drawing me to it right now is how abysmally /simple/ this stuff is at it’s core. That’s not to say that there aren’t producers who aren’t making downright excellent tracks (Mayhem being a personal favorite of mine), but the genre as a whole is kind of terrible. It’s something of a guilty pleasure. Like the pork rinds of electronic music.
I figure if there’s anyone else on here making some that it’d be nice to talk about what other people have found that works and stuff.
I really appreciate the input though.

theslagParticipantJust beware of fad genre’s. I mean producing a few for the fun of it is ok, but if you’re switching your whole music scene because it’s the most popular one at the moment, I’d hold off.

ombudsmanParticipanthahah the pork rinds of electronic music. trap is not at all my style, but then again, i think you can come to appreciate a genre by trying to produce a song in that genre. that’s kinda how i got into house from hip hop.

vsopmaniaParticipanttrap beats are fun..i agree. Its hard to tell one trap producer from the other though, very saturated with the same snares being used over and over
