GV1ParticipantI have Ronstadt Linda – Heatwave. I want to possibly boost the vocals on that to make it usable. I am only using 16 bars from the actual tune (the chorus). My 4/4 beat seems to override her beat but the vocal sounds a little low.

Reggie_p75ParticipantUse some EQ to get the absolute best from the Heatwave sample, lower the frequencies where the drumbeat is on the sample..
Compress your 4/4 beat to get the maximum sonic energy from it and then mix but have the Heatwave sample at a lower volume say 1/2 to 2/3rds and then compress the whole mix n the vocal should be higher in volume..
The only downside to the final compression of the mix is that it may sound like it is ‘pumping’. That may be the desirable result or not, check Eric Prydz’s Call on Me where the sustained ‘me’ dips as the beat comes in..
CALL ON MEEEeeEEEEeeEEEEee
Hope u get the idea

squirtlsquirtlParticipantYa eq and compression are your two best friends in this battle.
use a multi band EQ to boost where the vocal is and take out the rest.
As far as the pumping and breathing use a multi-band compressor or a crossfader before the compressor so you dont trigger compression on the whole track just because your kick is booming.hope that helped.

larrykooleParticipantAudacity is not good for this. Try ableton live

larrykooleParticipantIt has an inversion utility which you can then mix out drums
