FruitBombParticipantWoz up with this culture of fame worship?Don’t we all know by now that fame is a semi random occurance? It could be you,it could be me,so why the hype?Ian Pooley(for example) could sit down next to us in a bar and cadge a fag without a second glance, and yet he’s a multi millionaire "superstar DJ",who seems to like the quiet life. What makes him different? Why are we so far removed from this reality? Why do we crave the spot-light?Do we crave the spot-light?I’m interested to know what you all think about this weird state of affairs…..

EdParticipanttotally agree ! Personally I can’t see what all the fuss is about being famous. I much rather be successfull but not famous. I especially can’t stand these two bit celebs like kate Lawler, Kerry Catonia, big brother contestants etc – scum !!

DJ ValParticipantEd wrote:big brother contestants etc – scum !!talking about scum ‘n dirt. They reckon the BB house is so filthy this year and there is enough flaked off human skin all over the house to cover that of another 360 humans
Back to the topic in hand. I find this a very interesting observation. Having spen a bit of time podering over it, I have to agree with Ed. I’d rather be successful and good at what I do than be famous and pestered by the media and fans.

FruitBombParticipant[quote quote="plattitude":2ie0bhmx]nearly every country seems to suffer from their very own big brother contestens..
i agree wit u. i don’t see being famous as a goal or even an advantage.
what so good on being observed 24/7 and informing the world bout every step u make!?
but to me it seems like ‘being famous’ has become a complete profession you can live of. dump persons (and sorry, in germany there are a lot of girls) with no talents just selling their affairs and facelifting-reports.
and they obviously feel like they’ve invented something against cancer..
for me it’s the same, being succesful but unknown sounds perfect.only remember few people succeeding wit it, i.e. Daft Punk. Though everbody knows their name and songs just very few people know their faces or even names.but it’s very hard i guess especially when selling music.. there aren’t a lot labels that just want to sell music and not the whole product..[/quote:2ie0bhmx]Yeah,the whole famous for being famous thing really gets up my arse,It’s one of the (many) disturbing aspects of modern pop-culture…I Guess it all depends on how good the product is,and how much the labels figure they can make off a particular sound.Anyone know how Daft-Punk got their break? How the hell d’you wrangle sumthin like that?Sheer genius I say….Very glad to hear that personal notoriety is NOT something everyone aspires to…the world still has a soul….sigh…
