DJ ValParticipantMe again with a silly question
Can you record or save stuff that you stream/listen to over the web. ie radio shows etc. If so is there a programme that can do this. I’m not sure what to do as a google search on this subject, as I don’t no how streaming would be formatted, in order to convert to mp3 or wav. ThanksTake care

totalcultParticipantHi Val,
There’s a programme called Freecorder
I use the demo of it all the time, you can save as mp3 or wav, but (as a way of encouraging you to upgrade to the pay version I suppose
) you can only record for 30mins at a time and it isn’t very high-grade audio quality.
I’ve heard other people recommend Audacity for this (also free) but I’ve never used it so don’t really know…Hope that helps.
Mat.

DJ ValParticipantThanks Mat and Slyde I will certainly try both these programmes. I have got Audacity so may have another look at it’s features.
Take care

The CutterParticipantI use sound forge, acid and vegas to record I-net streams. You can pretty much use any audio software that records audio cuz it’s all about your soundcard. You just need to select the right input on your card.

The CutterParticipantrhys wrote:oh mite look in to it then thanks manLet me know what you find out. Do you have TIVO or DVR(digital video recorders for cable television) in the Great Land of Britian? I would imagine that it could work the same way maybe cuz it’s all internal. Not really sure though.

The CutterParticipantrhys wrote:i have freeview(30 digital channels) but i cant link that to the computer and i dont have a video card with line in or nething so i dont think i can do it can i?If you really wanted to spend the money you can get a video card that is made for connecting to cable television etc. So it is possible.

DJ ValParticipantSlyde wrote:as far as i know val there isnt really a law against recording a live stream. kinda like taping a football game.Cheers Slyde. I’ve tried a couple of the programmes mentioned, I was a bit disappointed, the sound sounds a wee bit like it’s “under water”. Do any of you helpful guys
no a way to rectify this. I’ve tried the EQ etc in sound forge but it didn’t really make a difference.Take care

Mellow MadnessParticipantlol @ all u guys mentioning progs.. screw all that.. all u have to do is setup ur audio properties.. to LINE IN..
open up any recording software.. such as COOL EDIT PRO.. or ACID…
hit record.. and it’ll record the stream/audio/vid..
and no.. u dont lose any quality.. its runs thro ur soundcard.. directly into the prog.
if you have an EMU1212M soundcard such as myself.. all u have to do is put a SEND WAV. into the second strip.. done deal
