vice versesParticipantany one else here got their hands on the biggie duets album?
how dissapointing!… i mean unless ive been spoilt with some of the fine remixes on here?
it seems like the biggest slice of cash in tosh ive ever heared. dont get me wrong im a biggie fan, but this album does nothing than tarnish his legendary status.
i mean ….out of 22 tracks (hmm promising!)… 5 are skits (and not good ones…. i mean who wants to hear his kid tell of his dad been a rapper?)
then youve got a remix with korn!?… a badly looped bob marley sample (that they call a duet!?)…. a track with em/obie/puff… that doesnt even have big on it. and then to top it all off they remove 2 of bigs verses from the nasty girl track and puffy or piddy/piffy whatever he calls himself now steals all his lines!
so that leaves u with a wishy washy album choc full of guest spots all doing theyre best to outshine big…. and unfortunately most of them do,seems like this album isnt about biggie, more a showcase for other rappers to apear with a legend theyll never meet!
okay im ranting now….. theres an odd track that sounds okay,
id like to know what you all think?…. in my opinion not worth waiting for nor an album worthy of a legend.
final chapter indeed!!!
V.V.
(apologies for sounding like a grumpy old man, but im rattled!! lol)

DJ PhenomenonParticipantlols nice speech and yeh i agree with u man, yesterday my friend was tellin me how he bought the new biggie album and i was nahh man that album is crap, and he didn’t belieave me, lets c wot he thinks today, anyways yeh the album isn’t all that, only good tack is livin in pain notorious b.i.g ft. 2pac, nas, mary j – livin in pain, yeh the album is worse than 2pac’s loyal to the game, atleast loyal to the game sounded good…but the people eminem mixed pac with was wack…50 cent(backstabber) i’ve seen something on mtv where deres like a programe and there asking music artists wot they think about 2pac, and wenit came up to 50 cent he was like” oh he’s a legend bla bla bla, u know bum lickin him, then here comes the project “loyal to the game” eminem put him on da song “loyal to the game” with pac which sounded wrong cos it sounded more like g-unit ft. 2pac , not a 2pac featuring g-unit. then after that wot does 50 cent do? he recruits mobb deep, then releases piggy bank, sayin “2pac don’t pretend.” as in don’ pretend ur, first he is biggin up pac, den he is goin up against him. kinda stupid, wot u think?

habib1984Participantthe 2pac dont pretend line in piggy bank was aimed at ja rule, it is a weak cd, really hurts me as a biggie fan, i wish they could have at least given us 1 unreleased verse, this album is we invented the remix part 2 and it sucks

vice versesParticipantglad im not the only one!…
seems like whoever produced this album kinda forgot whos album it really was!
and for f… sake theres an image on the front cover to remind them!
there must be some backcatalouge freestyles and unreleased verses in the badboy vaults!? without redoing the whats beef track, or nasty girl….
i mean,…. ive heared a bootleg someone threw together of big duets….
that included michael jackson/neneh cherry/ra rugged man etc…..
where were these?
as for the loyal to the game…. i have to say i quite liked it upon first listening, the hennesy track worked well, and a couple of others…. but the more i listen to it… the more i realise it was a rushed job totally moving away from where pac wouldve taken it if he had been here.
anyways… im ranting again. lol

DJ PhenomenonParticipantlol yeh i understand. btw wot song is it with biggie and micheal jackson, i heard of it, but have never heard it
AdSense 336x280January 6, 2006 at 8:25 am #582682
habib1984Participantthere are two songs by michael jackson and biggie
1 was recorded around 1995, called this time around
the other was recorded after bigs death and is called unbreakable

freddy2Participantfinally somewhere on the net u got people who know what theyre saying (for the most part)
bigs "album" was GARBAGE, it was straight up a mixtape, almost every verse has been released and lets be serious, the song with CHARLIE WISLON???? WTF was didy thinking putting that 60 year old man on a big track, not to mentionthe garbage truck full of other terrible mcs, juelz santana, jim jones, lil wayne, mobb deep, korn?!?!?!?, slim thug, ti, they all suck balls and should have never been signed in the first place, but seriously, FUCK THE SOUTH, the best song on here was livin in pain by FAR, the best beat, the best big verse, and the best collab, however nas spits a very weak verse, another decent song was hustlas story, however, if it were only akon and biggie it would be one of the best,so, i made a short edit version where biggies part leads into akons chorus and verse, much better with out big gee, and take a look at that fags name, the dude puts on a deep voice, doin his best big impersonation, then he thinks "hey maybe i can be a rapper too, ill call my self biggie but with a space in it, and no one will know,"well i know u fag, all these new cats on here cuz diddy knows that shitty southern music is whats hot now, so he just cashing out, this is more of a disgrace than born again, at least on that u had one real good song, although the whole album is garbage really, just like this oneAdSense 336x280January 8, 2006 at 2:45 pm #582785
vice versesParticipantyea not sure i agree with everything your saying there freddy… cant say im a fan of the south sound but its all progression and growth of hip hop, and lets face it we cant all like everything…. otherwise will smith would be in my cd player along with chaka demus and pliers!
anyways seems like there isnt much positive feedback on the biggie duets album…. could have been such a great album aswell. theres been so much hype building it up that i guess all it really could do was dissapoint,
anyway dont get me started again or i wont be able to shut up!!V.V.
AdSense 336x280January 9, 2006 at 4:55 pm #582860
freddy2Participant^^ok thats just wrong, the vocals sound clear, all the bootleg versions are what sounds gay, and biggies beats were trash back then, the only reason i can sit thru half the songs is cuz of their beats
AdSense 336x280January 9, 2006 at 9:03 pm #582871
silvershadowParticipantim not reallly a big huge fan, but i do like the way biggie raps, and this album didnt appeal to me at all. i only like one song, the bob marley song, and that is only because bob marley is in it. however, i feel i could of mixed it better if i had the samples…loll
another thing im curious about is, why is it that biggie is dead, but he talks about things that are happening in current times. i dont remember any exact examples though. could it be because the same things that are happening in the world today, are the same that used to take place back then? i dont know.
or could there be some other explanations about why a "passed-away" rapper releasing new tunes about modern day things?
AdSense 336x280January 9, 2006 at 11:36 pm #582879
vice versesParticipantsilvershadow…. most of the lyrics on the duets album from big have been around on the bootlegs for ages, i spose though his subject matter is still relevant, and maybe theyre what has shaped mcs of today… thus making him sound fresh!?… but theres a whole other discussion topic!!…
what i do find eerie is how a lot of pacs lyrics in the later songs talk from a past tense, but then i guess he knew his time was coming!?

freddy2Participantlets not even get into lyrics, pac is a god, rap or otherwise, big is a rapper, nothing more, he is in the same category as people like fabolous, decent rapper, you canlisten to his songs, but there are 100 other rappers just like him, hes not even close to many people lyrically, especially pac, i mean pac has rapped about millionsof topics, and he has all the other skills people should look for in a rapper, biggie doesnt, during biggies whole career, every song he ever made was basicllay released, pac had more than 10 years worth of unreleased material, he realeased more work after his death, that speaks for itself, while pac was recording 3 songs a day at least, biggie was buying out the local mcdonalds and eating all the food, every so called biggie "freestyle" is entirely written, he really isnt amazing at all, he is a rapper, a good one, not a great one, and definitely not a legend or anything, people need to stop comparing big and pac, i mean, no one could ever comapre to pac, he was is and will be the best rapper of all time!
AdSense 336x280January 11, 2006 at 11:22 pm #582970
silvershadowParticipantthats very true vice verses
although, in one of b.i.g’s songs, i could of sworn he said something about how he is dead now, and stuff like that, but i guess he was just rapping?
also, im not really a fan of rap, so im not aware of every tune, but thats a very good point vice verses, i appreciate the reply.

MelParticipantOkay. I know I’m going to get no love for this one…
…But, I’m feeling “Born Again” more than I’m feeling “Duets.” Before ya’ll stone me, let me explain why.
At least with Born Again, we got to hear a few unreleased joints. I don’t know about anybody else, but when I first heard “Dead Wrong” (which was through the Born Again project), I went bananas. The beat was sick, and when I went back and bought the original 12”, its SO damn near close to the original. There were also a couple more verses on a few songs that I hadn’t heard.
The first mistake made with the new Biggie album is the name. Duets?!?!?!?!?! When I think of the term duets, I think of R&B singers collaborating for some kind of love ballad. Diddy would have been better off calling it something like…”Cameoz” or “The Last Collabz.” Definitely not duets.
Secondly, we’ve heard everything Biggie has put out. Don’t go messing with his classic material by poisoning it with bad production (except for Hold Your Head and few more tracks).
Lastly, never put a legend like Biggie on the same track with a loser like Nelly. You just don’t do shit like that. Period.
AdSense 336x280January 16, 2006 at 10:27 pm #583242
vice versesParticipantyup yup yup… i agree mel, the born again album far outweighs the "duets" album, okay it wasnt great… but it definitely followed where big would more likely have taken the music. as the duets album was his "final chapter" why didnt we get the best producers that big worked with in his career like jayz’s black album did?….
a premier track, buckwild etc?
of the whole duets album theres what? 3 tracks ill maybe listen to… 1970 sumthin/hold ya head/house of pain/ and even these arent brilliant… and to be honest ive heared better offerings of big remixes on this forum!
oh well … here i go ranting again!
interesting how theres no one as yet given a good response to the duet album tho!!
V.V.AdSense 336x280January 16, 2006 at 10:43 pm #583246
DJ PhenomenonParticipantbtw how many times did biggie get shot, cos u now the song he did, "everyday struggle" he says " rumours i r spreadin, last i heard i was dead with 6 to the head" is that actually like predictin his death or wot? not sure…
