eddie_xsParticipantWas wondering which VSTi’s you guys thought were best for:
1. Basslines
2. Leads
3. Sound Effects.
Also was looking for a good virtual drum machine… Any suggestions????

liquidfxParticipantany “plug-in” will work that makes sound from two or more oscillators. hope that helps, lol.

junoParticipanthopefully you’ll get a better answer……mine is kinda vague too.
the best is an opinion and it all depends on what kind of sound you want from each of these. i use mostly free ones myself right now – no extra cash whatsoever with all the damn xpenses right now.
Tweakbench has some nice free plugs – http://www.tweakbench.com/index.php – try Padawan (pads), Tapeworm (symphonics like strings, flute, etc), Toad (Nintendo Drum Machine), and monomate (basslines)
Vanguard is my main trance synth & arpeggiator. who could ask for a better free synth – though i dont know if its free anymore – i had to pay $20 i think when i reinstalled it one a different PC
like i said – i know thats vague – try http://www.kvr-vst.com & http://www.sharewaremusicmachine.com for a bunch of free ones

ordioParticipantTheres a vst called Invader by e-phonic which is great for fx. There’s also some drum machines made by them on this page
http://www.e-phonic.com/vstplugins/
Leads and other stuff Synth1 is a goodie and free also

Also Mainliner by Arc dev industries is a good emulation of the Novation Super BassStation. They make proper good FX too. The Echo tank tape plugin gets hammered

ordioParticipantmda-vst.com made a plugin for creating harmonic subbass frequencies from regualar bass sounds, which made everything proper low.
I usually just use either a triangle or squarewave with different envelope settings depending if you want short sharp notes or long drone-y kind of bass.

ordioParticipantooops soz, they’re website is http://www.mda-vst.com but I had a look on there and can’t seem to find it. Try taking a look at http://www.kvr-vst.com and you may find it on there

if you want to buy something try Novation’s Bass Station
but just as far as freeware goes – basically, you want to use anything with oscillators – preferably 3xOsc or more. This way you can tune the different waves and change how much they input into the overall sound. You can knock out those frequencies that make your bass sound unclear and “wobbly”.
