DJ MaztecParticipantI use Mixmeister pro 6, (Going to get Mixmeister Studio Soon), Sony Acid Pro 4 & 6, Virtual Dj, Fruity Loops 7, Audacity, Beatcraft and Kristal.
Its a good setup of software to keep you going, and can let you edit acapellas, songs and even samples.
Use Acid Pro 4 and 6 to edit the acapellas using the chopper.

RyujiParticipantvdj is good to start out,
check out Live 8 for more "advanced" options, and the plugin Deckadance from Image-Line.AdSense 336x280January 6, 2010 at 5:57 pm #675897
gamblewithyourlifesParticipantAbleton and serato scratch live for sure
AdSense 336x280January 19, 2010 at 9:34 pm #676284
wellwellParticipantAbleton Live and Rewire Reason. Buy some Refills and mix it. Ableton will automatically wrap it and use the same BPM for the Refills.
It’s GREATAdSense 336x280January 20, 2010 at 1:56 pm #676312

Ableton will change your life. Once you get the hang of warping acapellas and arranging everything, you’ll wonder why you didn’t use it sooner.

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantNot sure if any1 mentioned this bit I think you can mix more than 2 decks with virtual, its called multistance or something.
(I kinda sped read thru the replies)
Maybe you can download a suitable skin from the website or at least find more info.AdSense 336x280January 29, 2010 at 4:52 am #676771

ChrisEPICParticipanti personally find fl studio the best for producing
it supports any vst’s you could need
and has many generators and effects

DmammahParticipanti think VDJ is all you should need…other than that the real thing would be best..
AdSense 336x280February 15, 2010 at 4:38 pm #677249
silvershadowParticipantfor live djing, ill either use my actual hardware (two turntables), but since this is asking for software…
Virtual Dj for live dj.
acid pro for pre-mixed sessions.
since my skills and my knowledge of how music looks has improved, im actually able to mix live with acid, lol. ofcourse, if the computer can keep up with me, lol.
i know alot of people that use mixmeister, i have it installed, but only for MASS bpm calculating tracks, i dont actually use any other features of it. i believe it is kind of like a virtual dj+acid together?
AdSense 336x280February 27, 2010 at 3:28 am #677618
ChicagoCheerFXParticipantThere’s nothing better than Rane Serato hardware/software interface for djing. For production Acid Pro 6, Adobe Audition 3, Mixmeister Fusion and all the lovely plugins from Waves!!!
AdSense 336x280March 7, 2010 at 11:36 pm #677940
tranceturkeyParticipantdefinitely try fl studio
AdSense 336x280March 14, 2010 at 12:10 am #678103
crimson_soulParticipantSo for best dj program, what many before has mentioned, all comes down to your needs and which is able to accommodate them and be able to grow. If you want a much more creative approach, then Ableton is it, hands down. I don’t need to go in details on that one
For a more standard approach, either Traktor or Serato. BUT Serato has more of an edge 😉
