blockiddParticipantmaybe you can take a look at native instruments traktor…i think version 3.3 is the latest. it has 4 decks. to make beats you can tryout ableton live. i use the 2 of those to do my stuff.

trevormonikerParticipanti’ve seen some1 use PCDJ, seemed capable to say the least. there’s probably a demo on their site..

KrilikzParticipantAbelton is your master program if your looking for something to do it all.
To play decks/ do effects dj traktor.
To make beats or synths Reaktor or Fl Studio
You would need ableton to incorporate them all at the same time.
AdSense 336x280May 2, 2008 at 5:23 am #648924
Swag Factory EntParticipantNeed a program to make beats as well? I suggest Fl Studio. its easy to get your ideas down quick and with a 64 track step sequencer you have as much room as needed
AdSense 336x280May 5, 2008 at 10:14 pm #649140
cosmicjiveParticipantThe choice is simple. Ableton. I play through ableton with 6 audio tracks, 4 for full tracks, and 2 juggle slots for random samples, acapellas to throw in. Its like having six turntables and I can control the whole thing from my Trigger Finger. Jaw dropping insane mixes are only slam of your index finger away

the-haganizerParticipantit really depends what decks you are using (if you are) and what your comfortable with! Im currently using Virtual DJ when Im not using decks ’cause it crashes them when I do, and its a nice program to use! Otherwise I use B-DJ because of the Behringer decks that I currently use.
AdSense 336x280May 15, 2008 at 8:14 am #649526
SonifyParticipantI use Virtual DJ to preview tunes, other than that i use my real decks of course, nothing beats the real thing

SubmegParticipanthmm… so it’s looking like Abelton is the way to go? Was about to ask the same kinda question.
AdSense 336x280May 19, 2008 at 4:02 pm #649796
matster1000Participanti’ve tried ableton and VDJ but i found ableton a bit complex to get the hang of in the begining and VDJ to be too limited in the seqencing and timing of the mixes although in terms of effects it is v. Good
AdSense 336x280May 25, 2008 at 10:39 am #650070
exzessParticipantvirtual dj is good for me
AdSense 336x280May 27, 2008 at 2:56 pm #650208
ChicoYupParticipantAbleton rewired with Reason works well for making beats and midis.
I use Traktor 3 to scratch, and I find it really fun and simple to use.
I suppose any program with the proper vst’s would be good, but I find Ableton the best sequencer to work in. Its creative capabilities are perfect for any producer/DJ =)AdSense 336x280May 28, 2008 at 11:00 pm #650277
TEKNOParticipantalpeton all the way 4 me sonny!!!
AdSense 336x280June 20, 2008 at 10:18 pm #651660
EtixParticipantIf you are going to use traktor make sure to get the latest version.
You can do alot more stuff in it the earlier versions doesn’t alow more than 2 decks and the new version allow 4 decks and effects that sound good apart from virtual dj and pcdj!

davefjParticipantSerato Scratch Live is the puppy for me.
Been using it for about 3 months now and I’ve stopped taking CDs to work with me now!AdSense 336x280June 29, 2008 at 6:24 pm #652288

atomb6Participanti think that traktor is the best once you meet the system reqirements.

funkybeatsParticipantDo yourself a massive favor and forget PC/Laptop DJing and get yourself some dedicated digital DJing hardware. PC/Laptops are waaaaay to unreliable and there is nothing worse than your system crashing half way through a mix or at a gig.
I would look at the HDC1000 or the HDC3000 if you want the same thing but with proper waveform display, onboard fx and sampling. You can pick up the HDC3000 for £339 (DV247 is still telling for 500 odd quid so don’t get it from them) or the HDC1000 for £200.
Hook up a 2.5" hard drive, external hard drive, USB stick, or iPod and away you go! You can even hook up USB CD drives and use CDs as well was if you want. The HDC series firmware is always being updated as well, if a user wants something Cortex add it (updates are free).
You can also hook up a keyboard as well so you can navigate your system even easier and searching your entire database will beat any laptop or PC for speed. I can search through 5000 songs in seconds. The HDC series will do pretty much everything your DJing software will do and it will do it better and faster and it doesn’t crash.
I am glad I am out of the laptop DJing scene now, I love my HDC1000!

botchParticipantAbleton has worked great for me this far! Set it up with the Trigger Finger or the UC-33e and run with it.

AdSense 336x280January 7, 2009 at 4:42 pm #662169
rickfcParticipantgo with ableton live …realy does the trick
AdSense 336x280January 8, 2009 at 9:15 pm #662241
lsarkar1Participantu should try Fl studio and get deckadance (which is sort of like virtual dj but you can do more stuff with it) and you can use deckadance inside fruity loops kind of like a plugin
AdSense 336x280March 23, 2009 at 3:47 am #665821
estaloca311ParticipantNI Traktor for straight 2-4 decks+mixer+effects.
Ableton Live for bigger tings and experimentationAdSense 336x280June 7, 2009 at 10:40 am #668475
