TuckieParticipantAnother Cubase problem.
I’ve set up my mixer and microphone to record vocals. The problem is when i record the vocals i don’t get a good signal in cubase on my mixer the signal comes out fine.
If i normailze the vocals or create extra audio tracks and copy the audio across several channels then it makes the vocals louder but it kinda distortes it and then there’s a strong hissing noise. I tested it to see if it was recording in the sound recorder that comes standard with windows xp and it does the same thing it records with a good signal on my mixer but does’nt sound loud on the recorder.
The thing that is weird aswell is the microphone that i use for msn works well in both cubase and the recorder but obvouisly i don’t want to record vocals with a £3 microphone.
The £3 mic is connected to my mother board and my mixer is connected to my soundcard "audiophille 2496" and its working because it does record sound but you have to put your ear to the speaker to hear it.AdSense 336x280August 14, 2006 at 2:29 pm #596035

PREAMP.
Presonus BLUETUBE.
Either that, or you aren’t using phantom power for a condenser mic. What make/model microphone are you using?

TuckieParticipantIm not using a condenser mic its only one for laying vocals down to get the feel for it then i go studio to record it proparly i don’t rap i just make the beats so i tend to spend my money on vst’s and refil’s but i will envest when i get the chance. My m8 showed me this helped me out thought i’d put the link up if any one reads this thread with the same problem. Thanks anyway. http://www.steinbergusers.com/cubase/ne … _audio.php

The CutterParticipantO.K.
Have you tried adjusting the record level for the ? There should be somekind of volume and/or I/O control that is directly related to the Audiophile.
It seems to me that your signal when it gets in the computer is not set loud enough for recording. This is not effected by what recording program you are using at the moment. Yes you should be able to set record levels with cubase or any other program as well but if it’s input source(meaning the soundcard is not outputting a full enough signal) you end up with the problems you are having.
The best example I can give of this is if you have ever had a soundblaster live( or any other soundblaster basic pc)audio card. There are programs that come with the driver that control the audio record levels etc. etc…
For instance a program called creative recorder is what is used to adjust the input levels for recording with a soundblaster live card. If I was using for instance cubase I would still have to adjust the input signal with creative recorder first then I could make any level adjustments within cubase afterwards. This is a common problem people have when they first start recording with a mic to their computer.
Also are you going out of your mixer line out then into your audiophile? The input level on your soundcard looks as though it is line level since it’s connectors are RCA type. I read the specs but could not see if your inputs are unbalanced(which is what I think) or balanced. It does say that it has "adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV pad conrols"
It also states that "All Delta cards contain a 36-bit embedded DSP enabling a software-driven patchbay/router for all analog and digital I/O—all with extremely fast throughput for low-latency software monitoring. A single unified control panel provides settings for clock and sample rates, buffer sizes, [color color=red:1rrqqw2d]individual signal levels for every input and output"[/color:1rrqqw2d]
Which is the way of controlling the I/O’s for the audiophile. So you need to look at that for sure.
Hope this helps,
Mr. C.

TuckieParticipantHad a quick look at the M Audio Delta Control Panel I turned the levels up on the monitor mixer the channel the signal was coming threw i did’nt really touch anything else because i don’t no what i’m doing with it but it seems o.k.
What would you suggest buying Presonus BLUETUBE
or
phantom power condenser mic
or both?Because it seem’s easier to get the equipment myself than having to book studio time. Then i would only have to pay to get it masterd.
