daboParticipantJust wanted to take a poll of Mac users playing around with [color color=darkred:3x665i43]Audacity [/color:3x665i43]3.0 BETA or 2.4. Am I the only one having major issues "" with file corruption and program freeze?
I’m using a G5 PowerMac dual 2.0 ghz with more ram than God, really, and it has a world of issues with Audacity. I’ve also had the same problems editing in Audacity on a G4 PowerBook 12" and a G4 PowerBook 15". I’ve all but given up on 3.0 even though it gave me a great many Apple plug-in options loaded into the effects menu. Those same plug-ins don’t appear in 2.4 which doesn’t seem to like importing a 4th stereo track into an existing mix (constantly crashes).
I’ve reset PRAM, I’ve run disk utility on the drives to verify and repair permissions, but always the same problems.
Anybody else had these issues?

DJ_Patron(A-zona)ParticipantIhave powerbook G3, its an older computer, and it has a litlle under 256 ram, and MY AUDACITY WORKS FINE. It never freezes or crashes. but i dont really use audacity much anymore. Ever since i found the program "Amadeus ll", i havnt gone back to audacity, try downloading amadeus ll,it works great for me, it does the same things audacity does, and has moreplugins.

In SilicoParticipant1. It’s a BETA……..
2. It’s freeware……
3. It’s on a Mac…….
Problem solved.
EDIT: If you wanna be really nice, contact the people who make it about REPORTING your bug…

JuggernautParticipant..oh dear, in silico’s cracking me up…
ahem, yeah i’m on a 17" powerbook, don’t use audacity really except for quick jobs (like getting a mix out sharpish and doing some eq-ing and cleaning up) haven’t bothered updating it as i have bigger fish to fry on here (reaktor, reason, logic, recycle, max/msp, FCPHD…list goes on)but yeah might be worth pointing out what specifically doesn’t happen to the developers (it IS beta, remember so B can also stand for BUGGY AS HELL
) you just need to look at windows as an example

daboParticipantAppreciate the weigh in on this yes/no question. In comparing MY EXPERIENCE with Audacity to the many praise posts on the site, you can imagine my WTF response. It’s not my go-to program. And, to be fair, it’s the only buggy program in my setup. And Juggernaut, you’re right. I’ve at least gained empathy for the classic PC experience.
