ryackyParticipantSo I realize that no program could ever flawlessly convert an mp3 to a midi and there are plenty of reasons why and blah blah blah. BUT does anyone know of any halfway decent free programs that can convert an mp3 to a midi file? I know I used to have a cheesy program back in the old Polyphonic Ringtone days that was decent, but I have since lost it. So they do exist. I’m just wondering, does anyone know where I can find a "good" one these days?
I’m just looking for something that will do the majority of the work for me.
EDIT: By the way, I should have specified. I’m looking for a program to work on my mac.

surenoParticipantit’s not free but celemony’s melodyne can take a monophonic track and convert it to a midi file, not always 100% but really good on synth lines imo

squirtlsquirtlParticipantI mean I’ve never heard of anything and would not imagine this working. If anything the program would only be able to do polyphonic like sureno said of melodyne.
Which i had no idea melodyne could do that. The more i hear about that program the more I want it.

ryackyParticipantYeah, I wish I could afford the new melodyne. That program looks AMAZING. Maybe I need to start saving up for it.

h4ck573rParticipantWell I was also searching for years for that kind of program, no decent ones ever found.
I have melodine, it is not 100% but it is good. Best conversion I ever got is from my friends brain.
So try to find someone really good with piano, bribe him with beer and you have the best software for midi conversion.(or was it algorithm, hmm)
P.S. I am also looking for it, since i am running out of bribes

ChunkyEatsMyDinnerParticipantIt doesnt answer your question but i use [url:ng7tcyoz]http://www.midisite.co.uk/[/url:ng7tcyoz] as my 1st port of call for Midi’s.

uptheirons106ParticipantI’ve got Melodyne and had no idea it could do that… Obviously I need to look into it a little more, haha.
