In SilicoParticipantI’ve been using it since code freeze in November….it’s the shit man, seriously. For remixing and making tracks especially.
I shall post soon with a detailed list of all the new-ness in the program, and how it helps us re-mixas…

In SilicoParticipantACID Pro 6.0:
New Features:
On-Track MIDI Editing –
Now you can edit your MIDI piano roll right from the timeline without opening a bunch of property windows. This is pretty cool.Multiple Files on a Track –
Unlike previous versions of ACID Pro where audio file = track, in ACID Pro 6.0, you can now have a lot of different files and put them all onto the same track. This can be helpful for creating cool drum sequences, where you want a nice concise A/B/C part, and a bridge or two, without needing 6 tracks to do so. Also cool, you can cycle/swap your events between different files by using the C key.MIDI Merge Recording – THE BEST!
This feature allows you to record a MIDI loop, and endlessly add to it. Unlike previous versions of ACID Pro, where if you record MIDI notes within a loop region on the timeline it was overwritten, you can now ADD your new notes to the previous notes instead by using MIDI Merge recording. Imagine how useful this is with sequencing drum loops, where you can go through and record each part on a seperate pass of the loop.Drum Grid Piano Roll –
In this mode, if a drumkit is selected from a GM softsynth, or from one of the preassigned synth banks full of drum sounds, the instrument for each note will be displayed alongside the piano roll for your reference, and special ‘one-shot’ type notes will be used for drum hits so that you can avoid a lot of unneccessary quantizing in your drum loops.Piano Roll Velocity Adjustment and Velocity Quantization –
Long name, simple feature. Basically, this allows you to quantize the velocities of your notes in sweeps, patterns, ranges, to a set value, or in a relative manner to other sets of notes, and also allows you to easily adjust the note velocities directly from the timeline for easily creating natural feels to your drum beats and instrument MIDI files.More features and pictures to come…

In SilicoParticipant

Didnt know the v6 was out.
Im still using the v4f, didnt like the 5 i had too many problem with it, maybe it was my hardware but i prefered to stick with the 4.
Is the 6 out as a demo or is the full version available?Stomper.[/quote:1e07wyf1]
Demo is available: http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/produc … p?pid=1005
My advice is disable the media manager (in the Preferences) cos as far as I can work out, that’s why v5 and up sucked… I noticed the same thing with Vegas, it has the same media manager.[/quote:1e07wyf1]
Ya, media manager suxors bigtime. I also recommend turning of WindowsXP Theme Support, and disabling any unused MIDI outputs in prefs, cuz this will lower your overhead. If you’re really stingy, you can turn off ‘Draw Waveforms in Track Events’ too which makes all your little wavy things blank white.

OldSchoolDJParticipantdoes v6 seem to be more of a resource hog than v5. i know that v5 eats up a lot more RAM just to run the program than v4 does. is there a coresponing increase in v6?

Surface1ParticipantIs it still loop based?

ChoqueTTParticipantI use Acid 6.0 since a few weeks, and I can say it is greatly improved and i’d say easier to use..
Only problem I got, it can’t support all midi files ! Why, I don’t know but some midi files I try to open in Acid 6.0 just won’t open… When I put these into Acid 4.0 or 5.0 it works well..
Maybe I could find some midi converter stuff that help me go through that crap

big pun 2k6Participanti like acid 6.0 but imo nothing compares to fruity loops

In SilicoParticipantACID Pro 6.0 is not what I’d call ‘Loop Based’ just because of the new features that have been added. ACID Pro 6 now includes Multi-Track recording, Multiple audio files per track, on-track MIDI editing, and a lot of other cool features using combinations of the above.
Media Manager is designed to help you sort your loop files by category, and is IMHO not worth the resources it uses. If you don’t have 20,000 loops, all from our catalogs, it’s pretty pointless. You’d have to go through and tag every loop file you own with the right descriptions.
To turn off Media Manager, go to Options>Prefs and un-check the box 3rd or 4th from the bottom on the general tab, which says ‘Enable Media Manager (Requires ACID Restart)’. Then restart ACID and yer stuff should run much faster.
All ACID Pro projects can be loaded in a forward-compatible method. This means that if you have an ACID 4 or 5 project, you can load it into ACID 6, but once it’s been saved in ACID 6, it can’t be opened in any previous versions. Same with 3>4>5. Any .ACD file can be opened in any newer version of the software. (.acd files from pro versions can’t be loaded into studio versions)
FYI: ACID Pro 6 takes Fruity Loops out back, beats it up, and shoots it in the kneecaps and sicks a pack of rabid dogs on it. 😛
