keeprightParticipantthere is no 100% method for making an acapella. there is so much riding on what is contained in the track – for example, percussion instruments tend to take up a wide range in the spectrum, making them near impossible to remove completely, other instruments man occupy only a small portion of the sound spectrum, but this space could be exactly the same as the vocals, again in this case you will find it difficult to cut this sound.
essientally, when using live you want to use a combination of equalization (EQ8) and filters to remove the parts of the sound clip/song that you do not want to hear. There are many great tutorials which can be found on the interwebs as well, and like anything, a bit of expirimentation and practice will eventually lead you somewhere. another options is to take an instrumental track and ‘invert’ the clip – using a program like audacity, open the file in ableton with the original and use the inverted instrumental to cancle out the original by lining it up. since I am explaining this so poorly I recommend you check out some video tutorials explaining this in more coherent detail.
to conclude, I’ve always found tracks that contain little to no percussion to be the easiest – but this is probably due to my taste in music which is centered more around folk music, and less around – well whatever you call it.

phuturesoulParticipantThere are loads of songs out there I’d love to remix, just for my own purposes. But If I can’t find a nice clean acapella then I leave alone. Because if there not clean then they don’t sound right, in my opinion that is.
