apeacefulwarriorParticipantHello everyone!
I just found this community through one of my favorite sites on the web "DJ Tech Tools".I´m a professional musician/composer seated in Stockholm, Sweden since many years. I´ve been DJing as a side-career sort of. Nowadays I tend to dwell more and more into the world of digital DJing and producing. I am taking up a path where I can use and express my sides as a musician but with the "new" tools of expression offered by the developing DJ gear on the market. So to say I blend the best of both worlds.
I am experimenting and trying to create a profile playing the music I love – with jamming synthbasses and/or improvising synthesizer/vocoder lines alongside groovy rhythms from either Ableton Live 9 (Push controller) or my TRAKTOR S4 set up with 2 F1:s..sometimes together with a fellow musician playing another instrument. It´s really a challenging and super-creative concept and my experience is that it´s very appreciated by the audience. There is obviously the visual aspect when doing a performance with quite visible equipment like the keyboards, microphones, pedals and u name it what not…
I have always appreciated acts that alongside with their music performed in a live setting also tend to pay attention to and incorporate the visual aspect, like having a concept in what to wear, how the stage is set, light etc. Even small details and decoration can be really important to of how the public experiences your gig. At least it always have for me. For me it´s about getting a whole experience for more senses than just the ears. When you make the right choises integrating sound and vision, mind, body (dancing) and soul…then magic can truly happen.
Another thing that is so cool and appealing to me about these kind of performances is of course the aspect of creating much of music "on the spot". DJing favorite tracks and grooves – making improvised unique edits/remixes and adding parts with instrumental solos or vocal vocoder-parts…all in real time.It made me glad to stumble over this site and I hope I will be able to find some cool acapella material that might be workable in my style of DJing as described. I often like to reharmonize or/and "re-groove" and present well known songs and well known vocal parts in a new or a bit unexpected context. The possibilities are endless really.
I also hope maybe to get in touch with nice people and discuss all sorts of stuff and maybe help each other out when you bang your head to the wall because of some tech problems and such that always seem to pop up and mess with your inspiration from time to time.Peace to all…
