djtopcatParticipantHey, maybe somebody can help me out with this. There’s a 90’s alternative rock song that plays from time to time on the local indie stations, and every time
I hear it I’m driving, so I can’t jot any lyrics down.
Anyway it definitely samples Soho’s Hippychick drum beat with the weird "awooooo" African instrument.
The vocals almost sound identical to Len’s "Steal my sunshine"
about 90bpm
The chorus may have the lyrics "Waiting for the sun" "Heading for the sun"
and I think the chorus begins "so here we are now living in the west?" I remember each chorus mentions a direction east, west.north, south
A friend mentioned it could be one of the groups from the London "Baggy Movement" like Happy Mondays etc
I know not much to go on, but listen to Soho’s hippy chick beat when the bass line kicks in after the Smith’s "how soon is now" guitar
that’s definitely the beat this mystery group sang over
